If a run-time error is raised during macro execution, the VBA error dialog is displayed, which blocks the Python call to Excel until the End button is clicked or until Excel is killed.

The real fix for this is to write macros without bugs. In the meantime, one workaround for this would be to automatically inject "meta-macros" that simply wrap the actual macro call and return the error code back to the bridge, like so:
