firex-proxy's Issues

SSL length issue

When trying to browse after choosing a proxy I get this error:

SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

Firefox 42, Mac OS X.

Error detecting the IP country

For example, this proxy is detected in Germany.
49.12.4.194:37501
This IP really is from the United States.

So it is with most proxies.

Proxy list is different in mobile

Hi.
First of all, thank you for this great addon: in my desktop it works like a charm. So I installed Firefox in my Android and then installed FireX-Proxy even there. But I have noticed that the proxy list is different: in the desktop version I get 5 proxies available for Italy, one HTTP and 4 SOCKS5; in mobile I get only one SOCKS5 and I need HTTP for the website I'm visiting.
But my needs apart, I find strange that the 2 lists differ based on the device...
Thank you

Won't connect when running inside Whonix

Running latest Firefox inside a Whonix VM (Tor gateway connected), Firex will download the proxy list, but when any one of them is activated, Firefox returns the following error:

The proxy server is refusing connections

It works properly through TOR outside of Whonix, I wonder what is preventing it.

Button to add current website to blacklist

It will be great to make the process of adding a new website to blacklist more automated.

Can you please add a button "Add current" or something to "websites" tab, which will add new blacklist rule with a wildcard? E.g. if my current active tab has https://www.facebook.com website opened then this button will add *facebook.com rule

just not working

I added the site to the list, include any country and the site does not open

Add localhost:5000 socks5 proxy 'hardcoded'

Hi, could you add localhost:5000 as socks5 proxy hardcoded to the list of proxies.
This would help everyone who uses ssh as "poor mans vpn" alá
ssh user@server -D 5000

Thanks

Random selection and

I'm surprised this extension is not showing up on google results, but it seems by far the most easy to use and pleasant looking.

Just a couple of things, I'd like to be able to apply the setting of a proxy chosen at random from those in the current filtered list.

Also I couldn't find a way to add more proxies to the list of available ones, is it supported? If not, I'd love to see that feature added too.

Keep the good work.

Proxy list not loading

Since yesterday, an issue has popped up which is not going away: the proxy list is not loading up at all. Is this a local issue in my case or is everyone else experiencing it too? Nonetheless, I would highly appreciate it if could someone help me here and come up with a fix.

Here's what it looks like:

https://i.imgur.com/R72FhpK.jpg

As you can see, it continues to load forever. Whereas in normal cases, the list would load up immediately.

Edit: now it is saying "No proxies available. Try to reset filters."

Firefox restart "bug"

Hi, I'm on Debian 9 stable and I'm using firefox 60.3.0esr (64bit). FireX-Proxy version is 5.2.2.
When I enable a proxy from the list and I restart firefox, the proxy remains enabled but it's not actually active.
Before restart: add-on icon green, proxy icon red (and proxy active)
After restart: add-on icon black, proxy icon red (but proxy not active)
I tried and the bug is the same if I use blacklist or not.

Is there a possibility that you can fix this "bug" in order to keep the proxy active after successive firefox restarts?

Thank you for your work.

Proxy list is empty

On 15.01.2019 around 11:00 UTC, I noticed that FireX Proxy stopped getting new proxies, when I pressed "reload" in the list. Around 22:30, when I tried to reload the list once more, all remaining proxies disappeared too.

What is wrong?

Update: At 1:09 proxies appeared again, but it is the same old list with many servers no longer accepting connections.
Update 2: At around 7:00 the list was empty again.

I want to suggest an idea...

Why not do this:

  • Text "Favorites", move to the left, thereby reducing the width.
  • Text with the country, write abbreviated, for example "RU", "FR", "DE", etc.
  • This will free up more space and the width of the extension panel will fit (screenshots below).

You can also add flags of countries, just suddenly someone does not understand abbreviation.
I think I'm not the one who hides extensions under the arrow, so that the panel does not clog.

Here's how you:
