StretchSprite: Initializing with different Height and Width seems to make the positioning go crazy

I'm having trouble using the setPosition(x1, y1, x2, y2, x3, y3, x4, y4); Function
so far i have worked out that you initialize the vectors from BottomLeft Vector and go clockwise.
Declaring with different Width and Height changes the position of the vertices, but i have found that using Width and Height of 1 allows me to set the vertex's accurately on the screen.
e.g.
tempSprite = new StretchSprite(0, 0, 1, 1, tempTR, VBO, DrawType.STATIC);
seems to fix the problem but now my sprites dimensions are 1pixel * 1 pixel when you use tempSprite.getHeight() etc

I think I'm using this incorrectly though. Can anyone shed some light for me?
