Unfortunately, while a generic attribute is simple to create (f0e324d), it doesn't work well with our ItemConfiguration class due to its current reliance upon generic type parameters for identifying attributes, and the inability to pass an unbound type as a generic type argument.

There are a few workarounds for this (such as passing the type as a method parameter, or constructing the call to GetAttributeValue<>() using reflection), but these are a bit involved and could potentially impact performance. Given that the gains of adding [MapAs<>()] are trivial, I'm tabling this effort for now.

We can revisit later if there are other attributes that would benefit from this, or other options become available with the official release of this feature.
