I installed your vsix but when I opened VS2017 it showed me the error pop-up window and I had the following error in my activity log:

Can I supply any other info to help ? If I get time I'll try to run the repo locally and debug in experimental instance.

I've installed the extension from visual studio 2013 update 4:
but after the vs restart, I don't see any icon, and I suspect is because I have resharper installed, that it also has an icon, or probably in conflict with other extension don't know.
when a solution is opened you can see the resharper icon:
Your appveyor.yml publishes to a different gallery than previous versions. VSIX Gallery vs. Visual Studio Gallery. Users like myself currently have 2 options to upgrade:
Download and install the artifact directly from appveyor.
I believe you can use tfx-cli to publish to the Visual Studio Marketplace (F.K.A. Gallery). Feel free to look over my vsts-btdf-tasks appveyor.yml for hints.
