snap-desktopeditors's Issues

OnlyOffice doesnt show symbolic links (Folders)

Hello,

I'm using Debian 10 and I just installed OnlyOffice using snap. My problem is that it doesn't show the symbolic links I have with a couple of directories since I have different partitions and I created a Documents and Download symbolic links.

I'm not sure if this is related to a permission problem or what could it be?

Thanks!

OnlyOffice (snap package) does not find installed printer

This issue is unique.

  • I have used the search tool and did not find an issue describing my bug.

Operating System

Linux (DEB package)

Version information

6.4.2.6

Expected Behavior

FYI, I have installed onlyoffice-desktopeditors as a snap package and not as a DEB package. Unfortunately, the snap package is not offered in the Operating System drop-down menu.

I wanted to print a document and clicked on the appropriate button in OnlyOffice.

Actual Behavior

My printer, an HP multifunction network printer with HPLIP driver installed, was not found by OnlyOffice. The only printer offered is Print to PDF.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Install the onlyoffice-desktopeditors snap package on Linux Mint 20.2
  2. Install an HP multifunction network printer with HPLIP driver
  3. Open a document in OnlyOffice
  4. Open the menu for printing the document
  5. Select the HP multifunction network printer for printing

Snap instantly crashing due to "Segmentation Fault"

After installing the latest version (7.2.1) on two different systems (both Ubuntu 22.04.1), the onlyoffice-desktopeditors app instantly crashes when attempting to open it. The window opens for a split second, before disappearing.
If I open the app from the terminal, I get the following output:

Gtk-Message: 13:50:23.163: Not loading module "atk-bridge": The functionality is provided by GTK natively. Please try to not load it.
QLayout: Attempting to add QLayout "" to CTabBarWrapper "tabWrapper", which already has a layout
QObject::~QObject: Timers cannot be stopped from another thread
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Cannot save files. which is shown in journalctl as audit errors

From time to time, the program won't be able to save open documents. It shows a warning like this:

Screenshot_20210416_070439

I'm 100% sure disk isn't full, file isn't open by any other program or "user" and file is writable. The point is that it won't save anything, being this printed by journalctl -xef:

If I kill it, no autosaves will be generated, rendering editions prior to saving unrecoverable. only workaround seems to be copy-pasting data into other documents.

I think it might be related to this issue in this other project, as it only happened to DesktopEditors snap on my system, Every other program would still be able to fully access disk. Some similar AppArmos issue seems to happen to mysql: https://askubuntu.com/questions/916009/mysql-wont-start-because-of-apparmor. I'm unable to keep track of snap updates, so I can't confirm the errors are caused by its updates.

I appreciate any support that you can provide me.

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Hello, when trying to open onlyoffice-desktopeditors 5.2.8 I get the message "Segmentation fault (core dumped)". I'm on Arch Linux with the 4.19.28-1 Kernel.

I also tried it on a fresh fedora (29) installation and got the same error message.

I can not open files directly

When I click on a file it opens on the homepage of onlyoffice, rather than opening the file for editing.

$ onlyoffice-desktopeditors xxxx.odp QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR points to non-existing path '/run/user/1000/snap.onlyoffice-desktopeditors', please create it with 0700 permissions. QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR points to non-existing path '/run/user/1000/snap.onlyoffice-desktopeditors', please create it with 0700 permissions.

from what I could understand, it seems that I have to give some kind of permission to the app, but how do I do it?

Transparent "Save As" Dialogue

Forgive me if I'm posting this wrong or it's already know, I'm still new to navigating github.

On Ubuntu 20 with desktop editor version 6.2.0.148 I experience a bug when I click "Save As" on a document. The background is transparent and the dialogue is not in a window or anything. This seems to only happen when using a custom theme. The rest of the program behaves fine though, and plenty of others accommodate this without breaking. Hopefully this could be fixed, or someone could provide some info on possible user fixes?

Cannot access files opened from browsers

When I click on a file (es. a presentation) on Firefox (but may be another browser) it tells me if I want to open it or save it. If I choose to open it with desktop-editors, it starts but it cannot load the file (it just launch). The issue is that desktopeditors can't read /tmp folder and thus it cannot read those kind of files.
Obvsiously if I save the file to /home partition I can read it.
Probably a solution would be to add content interface and specify /tmp folder.

Anyway thanks for this great software!

No way to adjust for locale de-CH

Hello there

I am Swiss and am only able to choose "German" as Language, but no way to adjust for Swiss German.
That way the new.docx that's used to create new documents is from here:

/snap/onlyoffice-desktopeditors/current/opt/onlyoffice/desktopeditors/converter/empty/de-DE

With that, spell checking used is German and not Swiss German, which is quite different.

Is it possible to come up with German (Switzerland) as a Language and have the templates in there use German Switzerland for spell checker?
The new template folder would then probably be:
/snap/onlyoffice-desktopeditors/current/opt/onlyoffice/desktopeditors/converter/empty/de-CH

In the meantime, is there a workaround for Swiss German spell checking as a default on creating new documents?

Thanks for any hint

EDIT:
In extension to the limitations of the snap format, is there a generic way to point to a certain folder for the templates of new files?
If there would be a way to override the default path
/snap/onlyoffice-desktopeditors/current/opt/onlyoffice/desktopeditors/converter/empty/...

That would make so many things a ton easier, especially for business environments, where corporate templates are a must.

Cannot open files with group permissions

Hi

Onlyoffice installed from a snap package is unable to open files of a different user but with same group.
The file must match the user id, The group permissions are ignored even if the user belogs to the group and the file has read permission for that group.

Recent files disappear after update

After automatic update to version 7.4.0 I noticed that 'Recent files' list is empty. Reverting to 7.3.3 restores the recent files. I would say it is expected that no information is lost on update, so I am creating this ticket.

Thanks!

Onlyoffice desktop crashes immediately when File -> Save as.

This issue is unique.

  • I have used the search tool and did not find an issue describing my bug.

Operating System

Linux (DEB package) (I think it was installed as a snap package in the Ubuntu Software store, from the Latest/Edge repository)

Version information

7.0.1.37

Expected Behavior

A save dialog should open and let the file be saved with another filename or in another folder.

Actual Behavior

OnlyOffice just closes immediately without any warning.

This is the output when launched from the console. This part appears as soon as you open the application:

(base) user@TM1703:~$ onlyoffice-desktopeditors

Cannot open email attachements

Hi

This is a serious limitation of the strict confiment of the onlyoffice snap package. In thunderbird when opening an attachment from an email, the attachment file is copied to the /tmp folder which cannot be accessed by onlyoffice because of it's confinement...
Seriously this + opening files from firefox problem makes the snap package of onlyoffice unusable.

Best regards

Page setup

Hello
Congratulations on the beautiful work ONLYOFFICE as SNAP.
I have already installed on my Ubuntu Budgie 17.10 and it is performing very well.
Of course, as the project is new some bugs will be found, so here comes the first one I found. The margins of the odt document are edited 3cm up and left; and 2 cm down and right; originally. However, in the page setup it does not display these values and can not be changed.
The photo below reveals this.
Anything I can do to help you.
Thank you very much for the product !!!

Bug

What is the current behavior?

When trying to save/save as a file, I am unable to change the name from e.g. "Book1.xlsx" to "calculation.xlsx". I have to save it as "Book1.xlsx" currently and from the File Manager/Explorer I have to rename the file.

If the current behavior is a bug, please provide the steps to reproduce and if possible a minimal demo of the problem.

  1. Open OO
  2. Create new file
  3. Select "Save as..."
  4. Try to enter a name

What is the expected behavior?

It would be much appreciated if I could name the file.

Which versions of DesktopEditors, and which OS are affected by this issue? Did this work in previous versions of DesktopEditors?
Version: ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors Version 6.1.0.90
OS: KDE Neon 5.20
Previous versions: I cannot tell, just recently switched to OO.

since snap package updated today, onlyoffice no longer opens.

Unsure if this error is relevant?

"(DesktopEditors:30551): dbind-WARNING **: 10:58:59.810: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-J7q0wewGuE: No such file or directory

ARM architecture

It seems Onlyoffice 6.4 introduced native support for the Apple ARM M1 CPU, while the previous version required an emulator. However, other ARM CPUs are now very widespread and many of them are powerful enough for full desktop experience and Office suites, not only M1 CPUs, yet those other ARM CPUs still seem to be unsupported. I just tried to install Onlyoffice Desktop Editors on an ARM device running Debian, using either the .deb file or the snap package, and unfortunately none of them worked.

Would it be possible to support all ARM devices in the future? There are already mobile applications of Onlyoffice DE that must support ARM, but desktop versions would be better and more OS-agnostic.

Use LZO compression for building the snap

Startup times (first startup after boot) are very long for Onlyoffice on a modern laptop with NVMe SSD.

Canonical has enabled using LZO as a compression format for snaps in order to get better decompression performance for i.e. desktop application snaps. Specifically using LZO compression instead of the default XZ compression will help speedup the time it takes a snap to launch the very first time on a user’s system [1].

I'd kindly ask to enable LZO compression to see if that helps improve startup times. Thanks!

Cannot access SMB share

This issue is unique.

  • I have used the search tool and did not find an issue describing my bug.

Operating System

Linux (DEB package)

Version information

6.4.2.6

Expected Behavior

FYI, I have installed onlyoffice-desktopeditors as a snap package and not as a DEB package. Unfortunately, the snap package is not offered in the Operating System drop-down menu.

I wanted to use OnlyOffice to access an SMB share mounted via autofs.

A) In my file manager, the SMB share directory is of course available.
B) In my file manager, I selected OnlyOffice to open a DOCX file that was stored on an SMB share. I expected OnlyOffice to be able to open the DOCX file when OnlyOffice is offered to open the file from the file manager.

Actual Behavior

A) The directory representing the SMB share does not appear in the OnlyOffice file dialog.
B) OnlyOffice opened, but an empty document appeared, not the contents of the DOCX file.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Install the [onlyoffice-desktopeditors](https://snapcraft.io/onlyoffice-desktopeditors) snap package on Linux Mint 20.2
  2. Mount an SMB share into the system via autofs.
  3. Try to access the SMB share or its contents with OnlyOffice.

Additional information

I haven't seen a company yet where they don't work with files on SMB shares. I am kind of shocked that OnlyOffice snap package has such problems with this crucial feature.

First run after installation sets interface scaling to 200%.

v6.3.1 on Pop OS 21.04
Resolution - 1920x1080
Interface scaling defaults to 200%, should be no more than 150% but even 150% is too much. 125% would be ideal but currently, I'm forced to use 100%.

Off-topic question. I'm willing to create issue templates or forms for your GitHub repositories. The most important one would be to update the template at https://github.com/ONLYOFFICE/DesktopEditors/ to inform users about the existing flatpak and snap repositories because currently many users report issues with flatpak and snap versions to the "main" repository. Asking here first because I want to make sure You are interested.
