It would be fun to benchmark different renders agains each other. One idea is to add vanilla python renderer.

Right now the rendered images look very dark. It's probably because I don't apply the gamma-transform to the colors.

The issue requires to change the C++ code of the CPP17 render: add the gamma transform and also conversion from [0, 1) range to [0, 255]. Also check the image saving routine in runme.ipynb, it might break because it also does the multiplication by 255.

The basic image should be almost enough, just need to add some python libraries from requirements.txt

Right now these things are hard-coded magic numbers in the CPP17 renderer. It would probably be nice to have these things as parameters.

It would be fun to benchmark different renders agains each other. One idea is to add rust renderer which exposes the interface to python.

Hey there! I'm building my own ray tracer using a mix of taichi, numba, numpy and cython. Thank you for this amazing implementation of Peter Shirley's rt in one weekend. I wanted to know how much time it takes to render the random spheres example scene using your implementation, and what hardware the benchmark was made on.
