In general GitHub Pages / Jekyll will accept an extension-less URL or with a .html suffix, e.g.

• http://obf.github.io/wiki/BOSC_2010.html - works
• http://obf.github.io/wiki/BOSC_2010 - works

This is good because the old wiki would use the extension less URL, here http://www.open-bio.org/wiki/BOSC_2010

That works fine unless there is a sub-folder with the same stem, e.g. the old wiki uses this URL as an important page: http://www.open-bio.org/wiki/BOSC

• http://obf.github.io/wiki/BOSC.html - works
• http://obf.github.io/wiki/BOSC - fails, it redirects to child folder http://obf.github.io/wiki/BOSC/

Unfortunately apparently because the folder /wiki/BOSC/ exists, http://obf.github.io/wiki/BOSC is mapped to http://obf.github.io/wiki/BOSC/ which fails.

The main page uses Mediawiki markdown for links within a div (top right blue box), which works on https://github.com/OBF/OBF.github.io/blob/master/wiki/Main_Page.mediawiki (but without the div styling) yet after pandoc results in https://github.com/OBF/OBF.github.io/blob/master/wiki/Main_Page.md (with div styling, but not the markdown links).

As along as this is the only page, it should be easy enough to fix manually post-conversion.

Now that OBF has been accepted as a mentoring org for GSoC 2016 (yay!), students are beginning to ask what to do next. In past years I think we've told them to contact the mentoring orgs directly, and use gsoc@@mailman.open-bio.org for general questions.
