oae's Introduction

OAE

OAE stands for Ontology of Adverse Events

The OAE is a community-based biomedical ontology in the domain of adverse event. OAE covers the the adverse events followed by medical interventions, such as drug administration or vaccination.

OAE is developed by following the OBO Foundry principles. OAE is an OBO library ontology: http://obofoundry.org/ontology/oae.html.

oae's Issues

Additional OAE Terms.

The following AEs do not seem to be included in OAE.
Karyorrhexis AE

The following terms are unclear for animal models.
Decreased activity AE - Different from exercise tolerance decreased AE or general physical health deterioration AE

Repeated label <rdfs:label>extravasation AE</rdfs:label>

Hi, while importing some terms from OAE into the eNM ontology we realized the class extravasation AE OAE_0000213 shares its label with its subclass OAE_0005475:

    <!-- http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/OAE_0000213 -->

    <owl:Class rdf:about="http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/OAE_0000213">

        <obo:IAO_0000115>an abnormal fluid regulation AE which has an outcome of extravasation, a discharge or escape, as of blood, from a vessel into the tissues.

        <obo:IAO_0000115>This is an AE which is the leakage of a fluid out of its container into the surrounding area, especially blood or blood cells from vessels.</obo:IAO_0000115>

        <rdfs:label>extravasation AE</rdfs:label>
    </owl:Class>

Is this a redundancy or are they supposed to be different terms?

Thanks!

contains a spelling mistake. Should be "Events" rather than "Eventsy".

Connection from OAE to other ontologies / how to use OAE?

I found that there's an AE in here called sandifer's syndrome AE (OAE:0009176) but there appears to be no connection to related sandifer's syndrome (MONDO:0019104)

Similarly, I was having trouble finding connections from OAE to related ontology terms, such as gastrointestinal disorder AE (OAE:0000455, which is the parent of sandifer's syndrome AE) to anything related to the gastrointestinal system (UBERON:0001007)

More generally, I guess my question is how can I use OAE as a hub of information? Right now, I can't seem to figure out what's the best way to use it

Information on OAE mappings and updates

Hi, I am including the OWL file of the Ontology of Adverse Events (version 1.2.44) in a knowledge graph to investigate natural product-drug interactions and related adverse events from adverse event reports. I want to use the MedDRA and Human Phenotype Ontology mappings available in OAE to link the concepts in the knowledge graph and would like more information on the mappings, specifically -

  • How were the mappings from MEDDRA concepts to OAE concepts created? Manually or by term matching? Also, are these mapped for MedDRA preferred terms or soc? E.g. cardiovascular AE (http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/OAE_0000493) has_meddra_id 10007649 (meddra pt: cardiovascular disorder).
  • How were the Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) identifiers added in OAE? E.g. cardiovascular AE (http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/OAE_0000493) seeAlso HPO: HP_0001626
  • How recently were these mappings updated?

Thank you!
