audioscreen's Issues

Demonstration mp3 has some spikes in volume that could make it hard to listen to

Hi,

I'm just browsing NVDA's GitHub and came across audioScreen.

When listening to the demonstration, I noticed that it has some very loud parts. I imagine this isn't a problem while using the software, because users can lower the volume of their PC if needed.

However, since the demonstration mp3 has fixed audio levels, it's either hard to hear the speech contained, or else very loud hearing the effects while exploring an image.

I think there may be ways to "compress" these volume differences in an audio editor, such as Audacity.

I don't have enough experience to know for sure how fruitful this would be, but I could give it a shot. I think it might improve the listening experience of the demonstration.

Anyways, this is an interesting project, and I appreciate that NVDA is making these software projects available to the public, especially as they are offered at no cost.

Regards,

DeeDeeG

Adapt audioScreen to current features of NVDA

  • Make the settings dialog available from the multi-category settings of Preferences submenu, with possibility of using configuration profiles.
  • Don't use NVDA+shift+a, used for say all with review cursor in laptop layout.
  • Add audioScreen category to change gestures from the Input gestures dialog.

In case you can maintain this add-on and want me to create a PR, please let me know.

Update to nvda 2022.1 & later?

Anyone using this addon? It would be a shame to throw away this addon, I started using Audio screen for NVDA before it was possible in older versions of NVDA, so I'm not even trying to not install addon because this plugin is incompatible.
