ipa-extract-info's Introduction

ipa-extract-info

Extract the Info.plist from an IPA, in node.js and the browser!

Node

var fs = require('fs');
var extract = require('ipa-extract-info');

var fd = fs.openSync(__dirname + '/Snapchat.ipa', 'r');

extract(fd, function(err, info, raw){
  if (err) throw err;
  console.log(info); // the parsed plist
  console.log(raw);  // the unparsed plist
});

Browser

var extract = require('ipa-extract-info');
var input = document.querySelector('input');

input.addEventListener('change', function(){
  extract(input.files[0], function(err, info, raw){
    if (err) throw err;
    console.log('info', info); // the parsed plist
    console.log('raw', raw); // the unparsed plist
  });
});

ipa-extract-info's Issues

no matching file entry case

It looks as though if there is no matching entry, the callback will never be made. I think we'll need to do a zip.on('end', ...) and if the cb hasn't already been called, call it back with an error of not found.

How do we actually use the parsed plist?

Hello, I am super new to node. How would I assign say the CFBundleShortVersionString to a variable in node?

The JSON that is outputted is invalid so I'm not sure how I'd parse it in node.

I want to be able to do something like:

var version = info.CFBundleShortVersionString;
var name = info.CFBundleName;
var minVersion = info.MinimumOSVersion;
