android_sdk_update plugin

fastlane Plugin Badge

Getting Started

This project is a fastlane plugin. To get started with fastlane-plugin-android_sdk_update, add it to your project by running:

fastlane add_plugin android_sdk_update

About android_sdk_update

Install and update required Android-SDK packages:

  • The Android-SDK will be installed with Homebrew/Linuxbrew.
  • Updates for the specified packages will be automatically installed.

Example

# With defined 'gradle.properties'- instructions below
android_sdk_update(
	additional_packages: ["extras;google;m2repository", "extras;android;m2repository"]
)

android_sdk_update(
	compile_sdk_version: "27",
	build_tools_version: "27.0.2",
	additional_packages: ["extras;google;m2repository", "extras;android;m2repository"]
)

Instructions for compile_sdk_version and build_tools_version

In order to reference the same compileSdkVersion and buildToolsVersion as defined in your build.gradle, we are using the 'gradle.properties'.

First we set these versions in the property file

gradle.properties

compile_sdk_version=27
build_tools_version=27.0.2

Now we can reference them in our gradle project

build.gradle

android {
    compileSdkVersion project.compile_sdk_version.toInteger()
    buildToolsVersion project.build_tools_version
    ...
 }

Run tests for this plugin

To run both the tests, and code style validation, run

rake

To automatically fix many of the styling issues, use

rubocop -a

fastlane-plugin-android_sdk_update's Issues

Not working anymore as brew cask cannot be used

Hi,
the command "brew cask [action]" was deprecated for a while and was now removed. It is considered to to replace it with "brew [action] --cask".

As your plugin uses both, "brew cask ls" and "brew cask install", I made a pull request for you, which just replaces it with "brew list --cask" and "brew install --cask".

Please accept my pull request or fix the issue by yourself, so that your great plugin is usable again. If someone needs it immediately, feel free to use the url of my fork in your fastlane Pluginfile.

Thank you

Make it compatible with Java 11

As gradle 7.x requires Java 11, please make your plugin work with it. Currently, the following exception is thrown using Java 11:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/bind/annotation/XmlSchema

Plugin unable to locate ConstraintLayout within SDK Repository

Ran across this issue earlier today with integrating the plugin within our current project:

Could not find any matches for com.android.support.constraint:constraint-layout:+ as no versions of com.android.support.constraint:constraint-layout are available

Searched in the following locations:

file:/usr/local/Caskroom/android-sdk/3859397/extras/android/m2repository/com/android/support/constraint/constraint-layout/maven-metadata.xml

file:/usr/local/Caskroom/android-sdk/3859397/extras/android/m2repository/com/android/support/constraint/constraint-layout/

From this information it looks like the plugin is attempting to point the location of the ConstraintLayout within extras/android/m2repository/ but it should be located in extras/m2repository

This ticket for Bazel seems to identify the issue in more detail: bazelbuild/bazel#2830
