URLs in chat messages should be recognized and made into links automatically.

The UI should reflect the current connection state correctly, and allow for disconnection and reconnection.

A limited (preferably configurable) subset of BBCode should be supported in chat messages.

Users should be able to send private messages between each other through at least preliminarily the /msg command.

All chat events should be equipped with timestamps. Displaying them can be optional in the client.

Actions should be supported in the form of /me commands.

Make sure to support bans assigned in the SMF backend, as well as "premoderation" caused by exceeding certain warning percentage.

The chatbox scrolling is locked above the newest messages, which makes usage hard. This might happen specifically when the backlog does not fit in the chatbox.

The command line should support a few advanced features such as browsing through previously sent messages using arrow keys, and member name tab completion.
