LockScreenNotes

This project was derived from another one created during my B. Sc. Education at the Ruhr Universität Bochum, Germany.

Despite this, this is a fully functioning Android app.

You can download it from two sources. Either the Android Play Store, or via GitHub.

⚠️ Any other source is not officially supported by me! ⚠️

Note: Yes, this app is free and open source, and yes, you may edit and use all its contents. But please notify me if you do so and report any imposters.

Google Play Store entry:

With this app you can easily create notes that stick around for later!

Designed for you to be able to create and manage notes quickly without many interruptions. Notes are supposed to be small and not kept for very long as they are supposed to be used for reflections and 'keep for later' ideas, like grocery lists or anything that you need to be reminded of instantly.

Optimized to be quick and efficient so that you can write down your ideas and notes in less that 2 seconds and only one tap of a button!

Once created, a note will stick around and be instantly displayed on your lock screen as a notification.

Notes and the ways they are displayed are highly customization. You can decide if they are grouped together and displayed as a single notification or separate. You can also set if they are always displayed prominently or more subtle. (depends on the type of device).

This App is free and without any ads or tracking! This will not change in the future! There is also the zero knowledge method applied. This means, I have no way of tracking you or spying on your notes.

Permission requests explained:

  • Run on startup: To display the notifications once you restart the device
  • External storage: To read / write backups

lockscreennotes's Issues

Feature Request: Print

A user reached out to me with a request to print out notes.
I find this idea intriguing. This thread will keep progress of the requests' progress.
Anyone reading this, feel free to contribute.

F-Droid inclusion

Hi,

Since this app is Apache V2 licensed, are you considering the fact to add it to F-Droid? There is a strong community behind.

You can find some documentation here.

Otherwise, if you don't want to work on the inclusion of this app in F-Droid by yourself, would you still agree with the inclusion of your app in F-Droid by the maintainer team?

Not showing on Lock Screen on some devices

Hi, thanks for this great app.

Unfortunately, I'm one of those who faced the issue on not showing the notifications right out of the box (Meizu M6 Note, Android 7.1). Never on the lock screen, but almost always on the notification drawer screen. I saw some reviews at the Play Store with similar experience. I tried all released versions (release7.apk - release11.apk) with the same results. I tried to look at the sources, eventlog and play with different settings. Finally, when the Dismissable Notes setting was set on, the notifications appeared on the Lock Screen.

My guess is that some devices with custom logic behind notifications might not like the SetAutoCancel(true)/SetOngoing(true) at the same time (AutoCancel is true in the getNotesBuilder method and SetOngoing is true when the notifications are not dissmissible - default for newly installed app). I could not find a related discussion about these two calls at stackoverflow.com or anywhere else, but it's just a guess, but very few code fragments about other topics contains both as true. Even looking at the docs they look mutually exclusive ( docs about Notification.Builder )

public Notification.Builder setOngoing (boolean ongoing)
Set whether this is an "ongoing" notification. Ongoing notifications cannot be dismissed by the user
public Notification.Builder setAutoCancel (boolean autoCancel)
Make this notification automatically dismissed when the user touches it.

I'm not sure that this should be fixed, but you may consider adding some notes to the description in the Store.
(Side note: I'm going to use your app extensively since there are virtually no other at the Store, the only direct "competitor" (studios.applab.stickynotifications) is too simple for daily use (but works right of the box :)

Thanks

Logo proposal

Good day @NilsFo , I am a graphics designer and I would like to help you improve your logo/icon for your project for your future use. I would be glad to help open source projects like this. Thank you in advance and have a great day ahead :)

Move up or down notes

Goodmorning to All,
I am new and I am not a developer, but only a user.
I am using LockScreenNotes in my Galaxy Tab S7FE-5G.
Is one of its kind, really, I had not found others with these capacity, and, I am surprised that works well in this actual device.
Compliments!
If I can permit me, one "note" only:
sems me that can not move up or down notes, only way is to reopen it ad and type somting like one space os some font.
This put the last edit note on top of the notes, but, the next note(s) this one go on top and the previous move to down.
I think will be usefull if I can change the note number (#...) and also if was there a flag that able me to place a new/edit note to top to all previous created.
I think will be usefull both these possibilities.
What you think about?

I thank by now for listening.

Regards
Girstef
( I am sorry for my bad English language I am writing)
