space-uber's Issues

Child rooms don't care about their parents being deleted

Rooms dependent on being next to another room persist when the room they are dependent on is deleted. This results in orphaned rooms, which is very sad.

Affected modules:

  • Pantry
  • Core Charging Terminal
  • Warp Drive

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Place the parent room.
  2. Place the child room next to it.
  3. Delete the parent room.

Example:

Location-based restrictions for rooms don't work correctly

Rooms with location-based conditional requirements don't work as intended. The problems with each room are as follows:

Energy Cannon
Intended behavior: Should only be able to be placed on the side of the ship.
Actual behavior: Can be placed anywhere on the ship.

Photon Torpedoes
Intended behavior: Should only be able to be placed on the side of the ship.
Actual behavior: Can be placed anywhere on the top two rows and the bottom two rows of the ship, but can only be placed at the very left of the middle two rows.

Armor Plating
Intended behavior: Should only be able to be placed on the side of the ship.
Actual behavior: Can be placed on the top, left, and bottom edges of the ship, but not the right edge.

Example of the modules being in places they shouldn't be:

Only Unassigned Crew Eats Food per Tick

Describe the bug
Only the crew that hasn't been assigned will eat food per tick. The crew that is assigned to rooms do not eat food per tick.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Have positive food per tick
  2. Have unassigned crew
  3. Calculate that the difference is incorrect.

Expected behavior
All crew on the ship should eat, thus subtracting from the food per tick rate.

Can't Remove Room if there is no space to remove it

Describe the bug
When trying to place a room like the Brig if you don't have room and try to remove it you can't. Basically, when the room is unplaceable you can't remove because it needs to be placed to be removed.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Spawn a room
  2. Try right-clicking to remove
  3. Doesn't work

Expected behavior
If you can't place a room because of space you should be able to right-click to remove without having to place the room.

Issues with room hover tooltips

The tooltips that appear when hovering over rooms get cut off at the top of the screen, making them unreadable, and don't always appear in the correct place.

Tooltips getting cut off:
If a room is placed anywhere on the top three rows of the ship, its tooltip will get cut off at the top. You can see an example of this behavior in this gif:
d3ae985580dfbab5689af3e7f84b9cd8
The text gets cut off in the modules in the top three rows, but is still readable in the modules below that.

Tooltips not appearing in the correct place when rotated:
If a module gets rotated, the hover area where tooltips appear does not line up with where the module actually is. I've attempted to demonstrate an example of this behavior here:
0b9aeac8a09d81b1b83938f104df99ad
As you can see, the area where the tooltip appears for the bunks seems to extend outward to the right and does not appear when hovering over the top two tiles of the bunks.
This issue happens consistently when rotating the rooms - the tooltip appears around the room's original position and NOT its rotated position.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Mute audio, and trigger an event.

Expected behavior
All audio should be muted.

VIP Lounge Placement is Inconsistent

Describe the bug
The VIP lounge (with default rotation) cannot be placed in either the left or rightmost column of the ship, and it can also stretch one block out of the ship on the top or bottom.
When rotated, the VIP lounge cannot be placed in either the top or bottom row, and can stretch out the left or right side of the ship.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Buy a VIP lounge during ship building.
  2. The piece spawns one column to the right of the leftmost side.
  3. Piece cannot be moved back or all the way to the right (unless rotated)

Expected behavior
Since there aren't any specifications about that piece's limits in the tool tip, I assume you can place it anywhere, and that it won't leave the bounds of the ship.

Stacking holding placed pieces

Describe the bug
When holding a piece you can left-click to pick up another piece that has already been placed and you will be holding them. Seems like there is no limit as to how many you can hold at a time.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to shipbuilding
  2. Place a few rooms
  3. Pick up a room.
  4. Left Click a bunch of time around an already placed room.

Expected behavior
You should only ever be able to hold one modular piece at a time

Per tick effects during mini-games

Describe the bug
When in a mini-game and event is queued up to happen when the mini-game is over, you still get food from the food per tick.

To Reproduce
Start a mini-game and just sit there.

Expected behavior
When an event is queued up to trigger while in a mini-game, all tick events should be paused as well.

Rooms give credits on placement

Describe the bug
Placing a room that is supposed to give credits at the end of the job gives them on placement.

To Reproduce

Placement Highlight active on only 1 room when multiple rooms meet the requirement

Describe the bug
When selecting the Pantry room which needs to be placed next to the Hydroponics room, only 1 placed Hydroponics room will have its placement highlight activate even if there are more Hydroponics rooms. The Pantry is still able to be placed next to any Hydroponics room, just that only 1 of the Hydroponics rooms has it's highlighting active while trying to place the Pantry.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Place 2 Hydroponics rooms on the ship.
  2. Select the Pantry room.
  3. See that only 1 Hydroponics room has it's highlighting active.

Expected behavior
All placed rooms that meet the conditional requirement of the selected room should have their placement highlighting active. For this example, all of the Hydroponics rooms placed on the ship should have their highlighting active when selecting the Pantry room.

Can't place core charging terminal after going to "edit crew" and then going back to "ship building"

If you go to the edit crew screen and then back to the ship building screen, the core charging terminal can no longer be placed anywhere on the ship.

To Reproduce

  1. Start the game.
  2. Go to ship building.
  3. Place a core charging terminal. You should be able to place it next to the power core. Delete it or leave it there.
  4. Go to edit crew.

Resource numbers move position after shaking

When assigning crew to rooms, resource numbers will do a little shake to indicate that they're changing. It seems that the numbers that shake will literally move position afterwards, causing them to appear incorrectly.

Example of the energy number being in the incorrect position:
image

To Reproduce

  1. Place a room that requires crew.
  2. Go to "edit crew."
  3. Assign and de-assign crew a few times. Pay attention to the numbers that shake when you do so.
  4. Affected numbers will move from their original positions.

Space background is not sized correctly

Is your feedback related to a problem? Please describe.
The scrolling space background that appears behind the ship during gameplay has not been downsized correctly to fit the screen.

Describe an idea solution (if you have one)
The space background should be resized so that it doesn't get cut off at the top and bottom of the screen.

Adjusting Crew During a Job lowers Credits

Describe the bug
When you change the amount of crew in a room during a job, lowering their number (or raising their number after lowering it) will decrease your credits. This allows Credits to go into the negatives, as well as leave the stat bar.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Build your ship with at least one room that can staff crew.
  2. Allocate crew to rooms.
  3. During the job, lowering the crew (or raising them after lowering) will result in a loss of Credits.

Expected behavior
Lowering crew would effect resources you get from minigames and tick mechanics, but should adjusting them should not automatically effect credits.

Advancing Dialogue Quality of Life

Is your feedback related to a problem? Please describe.
When advancing through dialogue, the player can display the entire message at once by pressing enter, but cannot advance to the next message without left-clicking.

Describe an idea solution (if you have one)

Some rooms give 2X the amount of resources that they should

Describe the bug
A few rooms give twice as many of a resource as it says.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Place Power Core, Bunks, Armor Plating, or Pantry
  2. Look at the amount of resources it gives compared to what the tooltip says.
  3. See error

Expected behavior
These rooms should be giving half the amount that they currently are.

Security Minigame Duplicate

Describe the bug
There are times when the security code mini-game will show the same symbol twice, picking them in the wrong order results in a failure. In this case is was what looked to be 0 and 0, but maybe one was an O? Regardless, they came one after another and there was no way to distinguish between the two.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Build Ship with Bunks
  2. Go to Security Code Minigame
  3. Get Lucky
  4. See error

Losing money via selling

It is possible to sell a room while in the middle of placing another. Doing so will sell the room but not give money back, thus leading to a loss of money.

Overlap Room Resource Reduction

Describe the bug
Sometimes trying to place a Hydroponics Room on top of another room will reduce food production. I think it's somehow placing without adding food production, but then getting deleted reduces food production. This can easily get you into negative numbers.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Place a Hydroponics Room
  2. Pick up another Hydroponics Room
  3. Rotate room and try to place it on top of the other one until it works
  4. Room will place briefly and then be removed again
  5. Food production counter will be wrong

Expected behavior
I expect the food production numbers to stay in line with +5 per Hydroponics Room.

Child rooms deleting unnecessarily and not being able to place a new room in empty spot

Describe the bug
Having child rooms placed and then deleting a different placed room that is not the parent or child room deletes all placed child rooms on the ship.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Placed 2 Hydroponics on the ship
  2. Placed a Pantry room next to both Hydroponics
  3. Placed a different room (I did Medbay)
  4. Remove the room you just placed (In my example Medbay)
  5. See that all Pantry rooms where deleted
  6. Try and place a new room that would be in the deleted Pantry spots
  7. See that you can't place a room where a Pantry was

Expected behavior
Deleting a different room that isn't the parent of a child room shouldn't delete all of the placed child rooms on the ship.

Clicking "Finish Ship" button does nothing

Under some circumstances, clicking "Finish Ship" does nothing even though the button is not grayed out. It happens consistently when trying to start the game without placing any rooms, but can happen when rooms are placed as well.

I encountered this issue twice during gameplay:

  • Once in Job 1. Tried to finish with an empty ship, clicking the button did nothing. Placed a bunks; clicking the button still did nothing. Placed an armor plating; I was allowed to continue.
  • Once in Job 2. I tried adding a medbay, which led to Finish Ship being grayed out regardless of crew assignment. I removed the medbay; Finish Ship was still grayed out. I removed all rooms; Finish Ship was no longer grayed out, but clicking it did nothing. I tried adding a bunks and an armor plating; clicking Finish Ship still did nothing. I added a hydroponics room, assigned crew to it, and was finally able to proceed.

I am able to replicate it by trying to start the game without placing any rooms.
