Hi, I've tried updating through obtainium, but when I check app info it still states version 0.0.1.
Not sure where I would do this, but so far I haven't been able to effect a reply to any posts.
Is this a missing feature?
Fantastic looking app btw - can't wait for it to develop.
Upvoting a post doesn't seem to register in the upvote counter until refreshed
When choosing compact mode the feed will get centered. Would be nice if it was full width
When you keep scrolling down you just get the same posts over and over instead of the scroll stopping when you reach the end (happens regardless of the sort type)
Example:
Pay attention to the posts with pictures
Right now images can only be viewed either in their reduced size in the feed, or full size when you click on it (but it's obstructed by the UI, and you need to scroll up and down to view the image).
It'd be nice to be able to just view the image full screen without UI obstructing it, and being able to zoom into the image.
I see the option in settings for hiding read posts, but if I toggle it on, read posts still show in my feed anyway.
(Also, would love to see a feature where you can just hide posts you've voted on)
Would be nice if the app cached the contents of a post and its comments temporarily, so if you back out and then go back in without tapping anywhere else first, it just goes right back to where you were, instead of reloading the whole comment chain again.
I know, I'm fixing it
First of all, thank you for implementing the lefty mode so quickly, love it!! I don't think I've ever seen the actual popup button moved to the left side in any other app even in ones with lefty modes, so this is really nice.
This issue is definitely just a small nit, but right now, when you tap the hamburger button in lefty mode, it shifts a bit to the right to be right-aligned under the menu items that popup above it. Still well within reach, but ideally it would match the regular/righty behavior where it stays aligned with the edge of the screen instead of shifting.
It would be nice to be able to customize the colour scheme of the app. It might also help with the app's vision for it being accessible.
I'm sure the current color scheme is well thought out and already fits well with most vision impairments, but my only issue is the dark blue icons (e.g. upvote, downvote, share link...). It's just a little difficult to look at for me personally.
I also understand if you want the app to be more minimal with fewer customization options. But this is a feature that I would quite like, personally.
After tapping into a post, or going to the search tab or profile tab, then going back to the main feed, it always reloads the feed every time, making it pretty annoying to try and scroll the feed and tap on things here and there, since I lose my scrolling position every time I do that
I tried to follow a link for Quillpad from this post https://feddit.uk/comment/1577083
I got network error, on the my mobil instance page it works. When I press the back button it goes straight to.the time instead of previous post.
Android 13, latest Arctius release from playstore.
I'm using a gesture handle in the One Hand Operation+ GoodLock module to bring up a secondary app list that I can close apps from. When I close Fennec from here, the app is gone from the secondary and regular recent app lists, but when I re-open it from the home screen icon, the feed is just scrolled up to the top, and it doesn't refresh or do the usual startup splash screen, it's just instantly there already.
This is almost identical to the behavior that happens if I use the back button to go back to the home screen. In that case though, the feed doesn't scroll back up to the top on re-opening, it just stays exactly in the same place.
Not sure if this is something you can troubleshoot very well if at all, but thought I'd open the issue anyway.
I know that the F-droid review process is a bit cumbersome but many users prefer to only use F-droid due to the review process.
When you search for something that doesn't exist a next page button is on screen when clicked it crashes the app
Both in the feed and after tapping on a post, if the post has a link, it does not show up anywhere that I can see. I attached a comparison pic between the Liftoff app and Fennec to show what I mean about a missing link, and here's a link to that post
This is a personal preference thing, so ideally it would be user-configurable, but I personally really prefer having the top parent comment collapse all the way down as well, not just the child comments, that way longer comments don't keep taking up so much space while I scroll through.
This is nice to have for posts where I know I want to skip past the OP and jump straight to all the comments
Hi morethanevil here, who commented to your survey ๐
I have one more idea. It is easy possible to save videos and pictures, but I don't get a notification if it was successful. I need to look by myself in the DCIM folder.
It would be cool if the app shows an inapp status if media was downloaded properly.
Bonuspoints for saving media in a separate folder "articus" and not between camera pictures ๐ฑ
Thank you for the app and your effort
This isn't a critical one at all, but maybe consider reversing the colors to match what the lemmy website shows, so blue for upvote and orange for downvote
Currently, there is no action for tapping or long-pressing on the body of a comment. With this in mind, you could make text just directly selectable by long-pressing on the text. Alternately, if you had some other functionality/feature in mind to implement later by long-pressing on a comment, you could add a 3-dot/overflow menu to comments that has an option to separately bring up the comment text in a popup that lets you select and copy as you wish.
After voting on a comment, then tapping the same vote button again, the total vote score changes back as expected, but the button itself stays highlighted with the vote color. Then if I tap it a 3rd time, the vote score does not update again, it stays at the original number. If I tap the other vote button then the score does update correctly and the color is removed from the first button, and then tapping the first button again will update the count correctly as well, but still will be unable to remove vote color by tapping the same button again.
Sorry if I explained that weird, let me know if you need more info.
Version 0.1.1
When I go to type in the lemmy instance, it scrolls down and I can't see what I'm typing. It does not let me scroll back up while my keyboard is active and trying to type.
Sidenote: after clicking connect on the instance, it doesnt provide any feedback. It doesn't say whether or not it has connected to said onstance.
If I change the feed type to Subscribed or All, the header still persistently says Local no matter what. The sorting type updates as expected, but not the feed type.
Take this post for example.
The app doesn't see the '!' as part of the link and sees the rest as a email adress. If I click on the link, it opens my mail app.
Steps to reproduce:
View someone's profile and exit it. Then go to your own profile. When viewing the comments and posts tabs instead of seeing your own, you see the comments and posts of the previously viewed user.
Is the app still being worked on? It hasn't received an update since August.
This is definitely a personal preference thing, so if you don't want to implement this you can feel free to close this issue, but I like being able to collapse comments just by tapping on the comment, cause it's slightly easier and quicker than aiming for the specific collapse button under the comment.
Personally I would find it nice if tapping on an image/media from the feed just directly opens it in fullscreen, as opposed to opening the post view first, where I then have to tap a second time to open the media fullscreen.
Maybe implement this so that tapping the share button from fullscreen will share the media file? And keep the behavior of the share button the same from the regular post screen or feed. Alternately, there could be some sort of pop-up dialog asking which thing you want to share, post link, or media file, from any of the 3 locations with the share button present.
In some photo apps like Google Photos, you can zoom in on images by double tapping and holding on the second tap, then sliding your finger up and down on the screen to zoom in and out with granular control. Would very much love for this zoom method to be added to the app as it is ingrained in my muscle memory and it makes it a lot easier to zoom in exactly as much as I want to on images, especially some that are extremely long vertical images.
At least on my phone, this starts happening when a comment is 6 replies deep. Best solution is probably to limit the number of indents that can be displayed and show a button that opens a secondary screen with the further replies re-aligned to the left.
I like how the first line of text stays previewed after collapsing comments, but visually it would be nice if that line got grayed out so it is more obvious when scrolling past that it is a collapsed thread.
Pretty self explanatory, if a comment has a link in it, I can't tap on that link at all, there's no UI feedback of any kind and it doesn't open anything.
Currently, the collapse button only shows up if a comment has replies. But sometimes I still want to collapse a single large comment that doesn't have a chain/thread beneath it, just to get it out of the way visually.
Currently, when collapsing a comment thread, it only shows a count of "hidden" comments that are direct replies, or 1 layer nested from the parent. If there are multiple layers of nested comments, those comments beyond the 1st layer are not counted in the "+__ hidden" line.
