Yeah a more relaxed match would seem to make sense. What about replacing all _ with - or vice versa? Or would the least amount of change from actual strain names make sense?

I think from the standpoint of matching strain names, it would be safe to just remove all _ and - from the both sides of the query and check if what's left matches.

This looks to be resolved in 5314492 (I haven't been running into a problem with recent Zika uploads). We might need more relaxed matching at some point, but then we can make a new issue or reopen this one.
