  • For Q2, I'd do like this:

    x2 = matrix(0, nrow = 3, ncol = 3)
    for(i in 1:nrow(x2)){
      for(j in 1:ncol(x2)){
        x2[i, j] = paste(x[i, j, ], collapse = ", ")
      }
    }
  • For Q4, I's use this pattern: "\\d*\\.?\\d?" (for 105.3, -0.5 point).

str_extract is already vectorized; so you don't need to use sapply. You can just use str_extract(x, pattern).
