anybeam's Issues

Vertical Keysytone and Zoom Function

How possible would it be to modify the OSD options and hack at the mirror controls themselves? Is this something that can be achieved if the code was available or is this something that is hardwired on an integrated circuit?

NVIDIA Jetson Xavier Compatibility

Hello.
This is an amazing project! I love the idea.

I was wondering whether it would be possible to drive the AnyBeam using an NVIDIA Jetson Xavier, which I believe has 40 pin GPIO. There exist 40-pin GPIO extension cables if the fit is an issue.

I'd really like to take advantage of the Xavier's beefiness with this hardware.

Schematic of Nebra Beam Hat

I plan to make a customized board (strip down version) with Nebra Beam HAT components for an industrial application. Will NebraLtd provide the schematics for reference ?

More direct control of the laser

Hello - thanks for the great product, it's fantastic! I have the HAT version of the anybeam and I have an application where I would like to better control the laser to completely avoid lighting up certain areas, and control the frequency and resolution at which the laser displays pixels.

I completely understand that this is not what the product is designed to do (so this is not a "bug" issue) but would you know if it is possible to control this behaviour via the raspberry pi? Or would it require directly interfacing with the FPC that goes into the laser display module / even further require modifications to the laser display module's inner workings itself? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Raspi HAT "waiting for connection"

Hei.
finally I found a good usecase for the RaspiHAT.
The moment everything works it asks me to connect a device.
The display comes pretty much immediately after plugging in the power source.
I have never seen this in all the many past boots.

is it possible that the HAT needs to have its firmware reloaded in some way?
before that it ran successfully with the Raspi 4
I tried it again with a Raspi3, without success

Model specification: Laser Module from AnyBeam

Is there any information about the Model you use in the Anybeam Nebra? I'm curious which brand you have used there since we want to compare that in an upcaming manuscript, where we used a Sony Laser Projector. It seems it has different laser wavelength and does not need a freeform optics in front of the laser scanner.

It would be great if you can provide some information.

Thanks a lot!

3D model / case ?

Hei there...
I wonder if there is a 3D model of the HAT existing and / or a 3D case for printing?
finally I would like to use the thing but would like to give it a housing.

edit: found the 3D file but still struggle to use it because of its size ... does anyone has a smaller .stl /.obj?

greetings!

Few questions

1- official website ?
2- official Email ?
3- can i project at 40 cm away without losing details ?

AnyBeam HAT to OE Sensor FPC Connector/Housing Specs Please.

Can I have the spec of the FPC connector where the FPC Cable is used to connect the HAT and the Mems Lase Sensor Module?
If yes, I would like to know more about the connector's

  • Pitch?
  • Top Contact or Bottom Contact?
  • Positions: 30 | OK
  • Voltage Rating

and so on and so forth, of the FPC Connector. So we can choose the FPC Connector correctly to take in the FPC Cable which comes out from OE Mems Sensor Module Itself.

Regards,

No OSD when powered via a computer USB port

My unit (devkit) does not show the OSD when the unit is powered via a computer USB port. When powering via a wall charger it works. Is this by design?

The chip also seems to have a STM32 controller that sets up a virtual com port over USB. Is it possible to hack the controller, and is there any documentation for it available?

Anyone got one for sale?

I'm looking for a Pi Hat - but I'll take anything :-)

If you're looking to sell your AnyBeam, please let me know.

Raspberry Pi 0 W - no image

I cant get the image from my raspberry pi 0w dpi_video out. Basically I am stuck with the nebra startup screen. I tried this under a number of distros - libreelec, kodi, raspian and raspberry os. I get, however, a proper image when setting it up with a rpi 2.
I tried all of the suggested config methods from the user guide but to no avail.
Also no matter which power supply and usb wire I use I do get a yellow flash in the top right corner.
Any Input would be appreciated - maybe anyone else ran into these kind of problems.

cheers
J

RGB Noise in projection

I recently got the Pi HAT version, I assembled it and plugged it into a 5V2.3A power source and the projected image is pretty noisy. I've attached two photos. Is this normal? What is going on? Thank you.

No OSD when powered via a computer USB port

I have used the automatic installation guide. " curl -sSL https://pisupp.ly/anybeaminstall | sudo bash "

1- choose the default mode
2- the reboot, the screen stays stuck on the rainbow screen and the projector is displaying the Nebra beam white screen

Test

The SD card is brand new and the raspberry Pi was configured using raspberry Pi imager

What would the problem be?

unit runs very hot

nearly burnt my fingers on heatsink picking unit up after operation.
my pi4 is very hot aswell.
how can i as better cooling to this setup without an external fan

Is it possible to control the settings of the projector programmatically?

Hello,

I would like to control the settings of the projector programmatically from a raspberry pi.
One option, using the anybeam HAT, could be "hacking the buttons" with transistors and resistors and connect them to an arduino. Finally, connect the arduino to the raspberry pi so that raspberry pi is the controller.
I don't know if it is possible with the other type of anybeam (developer kit or production)?

Are there other easier alternatives?

Note, I do not have the anybeam HAT yet, it was out of stock. I contacted distrelec and they will receive new pieces in a week or two :).

MIPI/DSI interface specs

Hello,

I'd like to use the projector module without the lontium pi adapter board.
What specs and timings does the DSI interface have? (if the FPC is even DSI, or is it proprietary?)

Thank you

Projector stuck showing "Nebra Anybeam"

I'm unsure if this is a hardware or software error, but I'm only getting the projector to display the splash screen.

I haven't tested with anything other than Kodi, but at least with Kodi this is the behavior. I've verified that it at least works with regular HDMI.

Adding CAD files for HAT?

Today we received the Anybeam HAT. Finally! Nice! And it works.

I was wondering if you can provide a 3D CAD model (e.g. STL/STP) for the assembly so that we can start building a case for it.

Thanks!

Reduction of speckles

Hi,
Love the projector and want to use it for an upcoming art exhibit. The animation has a white background with tiny black figures. Is it possible to reduce speckles and increase contrast (sharpness) - See image attached on how if currently looks. I have the brightness all the way down. Any help appreciated.

Best,
eHoef

adjustable color intensity?

hei!
I`m using the RaspiHAT.
The projector has a strong red dominance. projecting white turns out very pinkish
Is there a way to regulate the intensity of the individual colors?
Thanks!

No OSD when pressing ENTER switch

Hi
I mounted the set on a Raspberry Pi 4
I installed the sh file by choosing RGB888 by default
The Raspberry Pi Boots normally, the colored screen remains on the screen forever
when I connect to the Pi4 with VNC I can use it normally, open terminal, web browser...
I checked the correct connection of the ribbon cable on Nebra HAT

The LASER projector turns on normally and displays the NEBRA ANYBEAM splash screen as shown in the joined picture
However, when I press the ENTER button (more than 10 seconds) I don't get the OSD menu display.
As for the LEDs :

  • Indicator LED 1 is permanently lit (normal operation)
  • and an LED flashes under the radiator of the laser block

Do you have an idea of what could happen, where to search and how to remedy this defect?
How can I verify that the HAT works ?
regards
francois

Temporally moving pattern

We are working with the HAT on a microscope and observe some wiggeling of the pattern. We recorded a static pattern of single white points on a black background and capture it at ~60Hz. You can see that the pixels will vary spatially over time:
Stack-1

Are you aware of this? Is there any chance to change that (e.g. different power supply?) For Video projection it probably doesn't matter since it is a variation in sub-degree range..

Thanks a lot!

brightness

Hello, for my projet (HMD) I need to adjust the brightness as a function of the exterior luminosity. Is it possible via software and a photocell. Thanks
