Office-Portal

In Nearsoft, culture is very important, it is considered one of the main pillars of the company, and, because the offices are in different cities, maintaining the same culture through this geographical barrier is a difficult task.

Office-Portal main objectives:

  • Connect the offices in real time
  • Share our culture naturally
  • Cohabitate with the other offices

How to deploy locally

Clone the project

git clone https://github.com/Nearsoft/office-portal.git

Install the dependencies

In the office-portal folder install dependencies:

npm install

bower install

Run the server

npm start

Go to http://localhost:5000 and you're all set!

API

You can use the API for making the next actions:

Turn off the portal

URL /off
Request Method POST
Params token
Where:

token: A valid token taken from either the environment variables or defined in config/index.js

Turn on the portal

URL /on
Request Method POST
Params token
Where:

token: A valid token taken from either the environment variables or defined in config/index.js

Testing

Run the tests:

npm test

The portal effect appears suddenly

Some times the portal effect appears from nowhere. @ivanebernal suggested that it might be caused by the vending machine's compressor. We added a surge suppressor but it didn't work . @ivanebernal thinks it is caused by an electromagnetic field caused by the vending machine that interferes with the raspberry's radio sensor.

Suddenly a white screen appears.

I don't know how to reproduce this bug yet. However, it appears when the call has been active for a long time, there is a different ICE Candidate state in the console when this occurs.
For now, the solution is to refresh both sides of the portal.

check the privacy

Some of the nerasoftians has complained about the volume of the portal, also some of them mentioned that they'd like to close the portal and keep it close, it reminds me about the fist idea of privacy.
This is related to the issue #12 because the effect appears and disappears suddenly, and this is bothering them. I think that If this issue is fixed then we can ask if they are comfortable with this solution or if they really want to have the control in every side of the portal.
