To understand how a particular system is utilizing the GPUs on a node for a given task, we need to extract information about GPU memory and utilization as the program is running. A quick google search found the following Python libraries for GPU and memory monitoring.

• GPUtil: calls nvidia-smi on a recurring basis and stores the values from each call.

• psutil: monitors CPU utilization, memory, and storage.

• memory-profiler: tracks memory used in a program line-by-line. Depends on psutil

I will likely have to set up a monitor process using dask or multiprocessing to get this to work well.
