World Wind, an open source 3D interactive world viewer, was created by NASA's Learning Technologies project, and released in mid-2004. It is now developed by NASA staff and open source community developers.

This project produces the GDAL native libraries used by the World Wind Java SDK (see WorldWind/lib-external/gdal). The GDAL native library project contains detailed instructions for building the GDAL native libraries on the three supported platforms: Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.

Could you guys please put a note in this repository's README.txt file that indicates that this repository is dead and that people should switch to the repository at: https://github.com/NASAWorldWind/WorldWindJava
It might help people that stumble upon this repository to take note of where the actual development is happening now.

If you don't have one already, I would recommend the MIT License.
There seems to be some confusion in the community over the difference between this repo and the one at https://github.com/NASAWorldWind/WorldWindJava.
Based on the activity here (i.e. none for many years) and that the http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/java/ site points at the other github repo, i'm going to assume this repo is dead and should be ignored.

Hi there,
I see that the subversion repository at: http://worldwind31.arc.nasa.gov/svn/ is much more up to date than this git repository and contains commits from about a day old. I had to manually add the subversion repository as a branch to my forked git repository. It would be nice if you guys can keep the repo's synchronized, especially if someone stumbles upon this repository and doesn't know about the subversion one. However, something tells me that this git repo is quite dead and that nobody is really looking at it.
Can you add .md extension to all the README files to make GitHub style them as Markdown?
