Right now I’m deploying with a really shitty docker file on cloud. There’s gotta be a better way to do this. This may be something we can bring Sascha in on if he’s interested in joining this project. Basically, right now this is being done poorly. While I’m excited about putting in the time to get a deep understanding of how to deploy correctly (I’m using google cloud platform right now), it would be nice to have someone more experienced to work on this. It would also allow me to work on other parts of the app.

The server is very bare bones right now, and is full of lots of bugs and errors. I’m not doing things like database management and request validation correctly right now. I also need to deal with error handling in a sane way. In short, the server needs to be rethought and rewritten. Luckily, writing it the first time has given me some insight as to how things need to be structured, but I need to look at other people’s usages of revel and gorm to validate that I’m using these tools optimally.

Unit tests are essential so that we can make changes and quickly know if we broke something. On the server rewrite, these will be written just so the whole server is more solid. Once each piece of the client is redesigned and implemented, we need to add unit and integration tests for each piece.
