Isn't this expected behavior @mui/xgrid ?

Youssef-8000 avatar Youssef-8000 commented on June 29, 2024

I mean, i don't think it's the expected behavior since the Material UI Basic Table's width for it's columns is assigned dynamically. no matter how it looks on the page, it will always perfectly match the width of the printed document.

here is an example code from Material UI's website https://codesandbox.io/p/sandbox/blissful-tereshkova-4mcg2d?file=%2Fsrc%2FDemo.tsx

The only difference between the two that the datagrid you have to explicitly assign columns flex property so their width becomes dynamic unlike the basic table where by default it does that.

Images of Basic Table behavior with print:

As you can see it always resizes to match the print width. instead of keep it's width.

I Also might add with the normal DataGrid with flex Property when i Emulate CSS to be print, it resizes perfectly. so it might be an issue where the DataGrid doesn't realize it's in a print so it doesn't resize to fit.

Well, Also i would appreciate work around to achieve flex property benefits while keeping the print function working correctly.

I think the print feature didn't receive enough work to deal with responsive print width. This could be improved, but I'm not sure if this should be classified as a bug or feature request, and how to prioritize.

I'll add this to the board.
Looks like there is no easy fix for this.
