seo's Introduction

SEO (Seach Engine Optimization)

6 base variables to consider:

  • Keywords (words defined based on what users seach for to direct to your site)

    • understand what your targets are searching for
  • Content (stuff on your website)

    • generally text that connects to keywords

-Optimization (search engine to find the right keywords in the right place)

  • how and where to get keywords into the content

  • Submissions (submit to search engine so they index the site)

    • how to get search engines to find your pages
  • Links (to your site and within the site)

    • importance, what is a good link and where to find them
  • Time (newer websites have poorer rankings generally)

    • Can take time to get "momentum" going for website

Keywords

A way to connect the people based on what they are searching to your website

  1. You must know your prospect's keywords
  2. Don't guess
  3. Use the keywords in your site
  • Using KEYWORD ANALYSIS tools is essential to help figure out keywords to use that you have missed as well as eliminate keywords that aren't useful. Google ads and Bing ads can be used to find this data as well as commercial websites.

Brainstorming Keywords

  • Write down obvious keywords
  • Look at competing sites source code as well as keywords used within the websites
  • Ask peers based on your keywords list what it is you are trying to convey/sell
  • Spelling mistakes or words that have multiple ways of being spelled can be used to further optimize. Ex: theatre and theater / realtor and realator. Search engines will commonly correct spelling errors however it should still be put into consideration.
  • Find synonyms that relate
  • Split/merged words and hyphenated words (overtime - over time / Email - E-mail)
  • Singular or plural words can be searched more or less often and are treated slightly different. (books is more common than book)
  • Geo terms (towns you provide services too, phyiscal location, product location)
  • Your company name
  • Competing terms used from competitors (can be legal issue if trademarked however is useful to see what is being used and what is being searched for.)
