segoe-ui-linux's Introduction

Segoe-UI Font on Linux (Ubuntu)

installs the entire font family including emoji, also installs to wine-prefix if found.

TL;DR

segoe

Segoe (/ˈsiːɡoʊ/ SEE-goh) is a typeface, or family of fonts, that is best known for its use by Microsoft. The company uses Segoe in its online and printed marketing materials, including recent logos for a number of products. Additionally, the Segoe UI font sub-family is used by numerous Microsoft applications.

Segoe UI is a member of the Segoe family used in Microsoft products for user interface text, as well as for some online user assistance material, intended to improve the consistency in how users see all text across all languages

segoe-ui-linux's Issues

Installation Process Flawed . . .

The installation script provided in README was executed and I got the installation complete message.

But when I checked the system for installed fonts it was nowhere to be found.

I use Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with 16 GB RAM on a i5-7xxx laptop.

Not working on brave

I've looked through past issues and don't see reference to anything similar, but as the title describes the segoe font wont work on brave. not sure if it's something wrong on my end, or something with brave.

It does however work for chrome which is odd.

Where exactly does the "Microsoft TrueType Fonts" license come from?

I'm concerned about actually trying to use this font, although it does look very convenient and would be useful for me.

It appears however that the license in this project may have been copied from Microsoft's Core Fonts for the Web project and applied to Segoe UI. I'm not sure if that's actually correct, as Microsoft's font redistribution FAQ states:

...as Segoe UI is both our user interface and corporate branding font, it is not available for use outside of Microsoft products on non-Windows platforms.

Where does the license in this repository come from? Is it certain that it actually applies to Segoe UI?

Wont install segoe ui.
