Are you using the feature/centos branch? In a week or two, we should be ready to merge the feature/centos branch into the master branch. We do have this working among ourselves, and we'll be able to help you if you still see issues.

Thank you Gene for the quick response!
On the feature/centos branch I encounter the same issue. However, this is mostly due to my centos (virtualbox) not providing static libraries (just noticed the gcc -static flag). Also the default mpich installation doesn't provide static libraries.
Secondly, the makefile configuration in contrib/mpi-proxy-split/Makefile_config.in had to be modified, since it contains hard coded compiler definitions. Maybe there could be useful a ?= instead of a =

Ok, it compiles on centos now after installing all the static libraries. This fixes my issue

Hi @kellekai ,
And you may see an issue concerning restart under CentOS. This is a known problem, and the proposed fix is in PR #30.
But you may find it simpler to wait a few days, and PR #30 will be pushed into the master branch when the review is finished.
