socorad32's Issues

Can it transmit data from the ESP32?

Can the SOCORAD32 transmit data from the ESP32 or is the ESP32 only for the control of the transmission? Can the ESP32 be used to generate DTMF tones?

Can you make a real wiki how to build and flash on linux or macos ?

Can you write instructions to build and flash the firmware on linux or macos ?
Or at least can you build it and publish it in the release section and make a simple how to flash in every os...
I'm not sure everyone wants to install all dependencies and build their own firmware.

I just installed "ESP-IDF v4.4.4-dirty" confirmed with idf.py --version and it fails when trying to build on macos 12.6.

A suggestion of software add-ons

Dear Mordecai,

As SOCORAD32 is well suited for many applications i would suggest to include in the software the following:

  • A receive function with data decoder for EPIRBs in 406 Mhz this would be extremey uefull in case false alarm or real life emergency messages
  • A receive function with data decoder for Boats tracking AIS VHF system messages
  • A receive function with data decoder for Radiosonde Decoding such as the Lora32 solution created by Mirko Dalmonte (IZ4PNN)

With such add-ons the SOCORAD32 would bring very interesting features which are not usually fould together in a radio device...

Thanks a lot for your consideration
Stephan

How to remove tone code CTCSS ?

I am trying to disable the tone code CTCSS and pushed 0 to RxCT & TxCT but the tone is still on.

In my ui.c below, you can find that all first 16 channels has been modified.
I disabled the VOX with 0 and wanted to do the same for tone but it's not working as I expected.
https://github.com/joyel24/SOCORAD32/blob/PMR446/SCRD32_firmware_official/main/ui.c

The doc about the firmware talks about "editing the ctcss" but not about disabling it completely.
The documentation

Can i have some help please ?

Youtube video tutorial - Build & flash the firmware on Windows

Hello everyone,

On my Youtube Channel, I recently uploaded a video tutorial to help you step by step to build & flash the firmware for the SOCORAD32 on windows.

You will find all videos on this playlist that is dedicated to the SOCORAD32:

Thank you and I hope that it will help some of you ! ๐Ÿ‘

Open hardware?

Since the crowd funding campaign states "All documentation and project files are available in our GitHub repository.", I expected more than a single arduino file and a pdf. Where can I find the promised board files/schematics/bom?

I understand the focus at the moment is to get the campaign to succeed so I don't expect perfect documentation, but still I'd like to be able to take a look and judge the design before participating instead of going solely by some descriptions.

Thanks.

The 470MHz upper frequency coverage is lower than the RDA1846 supports

You have an upper limit of 470MHz but the RDA1846 commonly supports up to 520MHz. Is this lower limit a software or hardware limitation? It should be noted that extending that extending the transmit and receive to 478MHz would allow to be used on the PRS band (80 channel UHF CB) used in New Zealand and Australia. Extending receive coverage to 489Mhz would allow reception of New Zealand police.

Two typos in firmware file.

There are two typos in the firmware file (Arduino_Walkie_Talkie_V223.ino):

Line 1345: "AUDIO VOLUMN:" -> "AUDIO VOLUME:" (except "volumn" appearance as variable and comment)
Line 1366: "> waitting..." -> "> waiting..."

USB Serial interface for sending and receiving "text messages"

Is it possible to the use the USB serial interface to achieve the same thing as the Bluetooth Serial example?

I notice that the baud rate for the USB Serial interface is actually 115200
I do see some sort of logging/debug output on this console, so I know its alive. It just doesn't seem to handle any input

Please confirm

will not find the com port,

I have tried to get the com port working. different computer, different cables, installing the ch340 driver, tested to make sure date cable was good.

Changing settings VIA BLE doesn't show on screen

I've noticed if I change the VOX or Volume via BLE it changes, but the screen doesn't reflect the new value.

Also, Mic gain level seems to be adjusted when I sent the AT_DOMVOX=X.

I have a communications system analyzer at work that I will test on.
