brunch-with-grits's Introduction

Brunch With Grits

What is this project?

This is a brunch skeleton which provides the following tools:

  • jQuery
  • LoDash
  • Backbone
  • Marionette

How do I use it?

After installing brunch, run the following command to create a new project in a directory named example:

brunch new example -s git://github.com/monokrome/brunch-with-grits.git

NOTE: You can replace the word example with whichever directory name you'd like to use for your project.

After the project has finished being created, you can initialize it like so:

cd example
npm install

If it all worked out, you should be able to build all libraries into the public/javascripts/vendor.js with the following command:

brunch build

You can also have brunch automatically minify the output with:

brunch build --production

If you prefer to leave a process constantly watching your code for changes, you can use the following command:

brunch watch

Having a static server hosting your public directory is sometimes useful for development. You can do this by running the following command:

brunch watch --server

This will run a local server on port 3333. Once it's running, you can visit your application at http://localhost:3333.

If you have any other questions about using brunch, read more about it here.

brunch-with-grits's Issues

vendor.js not compiling

I just created a new brunch project with this as I hoped it would be a good starting point for integrating with bower.

After installing and running brunch build and/or brunch watch --server it seems the vendor.js is never built.

Since I am brand new to brunch I have no idea why this wouldn't be working but wanted to file an issue in case it is a bug or in case I am missing something obvious.

Action required: Greenkeeper could not be activated 🚨

🚨 You need to enable Continuous Integration on Greenkeeper branches of this repository. 🚨

To enable Greenkeeper, you need to make sure that a commit status is reported on all branches. This is required by Greenkeeper because it uses your CI build statuses to figure out when to notify you about breaking changes.

Since we didn’t receive a CI status on the greenkeeper/initial branch, it’s possible that you don’t have CI set up yet. We recommend using Travis CI, but Greenkeeper will work with every other CI service as well.

If you have already set up a CI for this repository, you might need to check how it’s configured. Make sure it is set to run on all new branches. If you don’t want it to run on absolutely every branch, you can whitelist branches starting with greenkeeper/.

Once you have installed and configured CI on this repository correctly, you’ll need to re-trigger Greenkeeper’s initial pull request. To do this, please click the 'fix repo' button on account.greenkeeper.io.
