YAML error in Jekyll generation phase

Jessica,

I have tried to generate the page with jekyll using bundle install && bundle exec jekyll serve commands after I copied the poster template file in "_posts" directory and renamed it there as suggested in the documentation. However, while the generated page on the local server can be accessed, I am not able to see the new poster with the modified title and other contents properly nor can I address the error that I get during the jekyll run:

Error: YAML Exception reading .../2020-software-fellow-posters/_posts/2020-06-08-sina-mostafanejad.md: (<unknown>): mapping values are not allowed in this context at line 3 column 15

Please let me know if you can find where the problem is.

Thanks,
Sina

Use Github workflows for building jekyll site

Hi @janash

I found some section of your site not showing well (e.g. Post table header), and it's the building issue.
For using any other third-party plugins, it's necessary to use CI (Github Action) for automatically building jekyll site.

So I suggest you as bellow:

  1. Checkout current gh-pages branch files to a master branch, then set master branch as default branch on Github repository.
git checkout -b master
git push

(i.e. The gh-pages branch is only for the site static files and the master branch is for source code)

  1. Use a Github action for CI. See here

(I also can commit a PR for u if you have checkout a master branch)

  1. After this, create a Personal Token with repos permissions for CI.
  • Go to your repository’s Settings and then the Secrets tab.
  • Create a token named GH_TOKEN (important). Give it a value using the value copied above.
