After checking on a server, record

• what time we checked
• how long it took to respond
• whether the site was up or down

These kinds of logs are really valuable for determining the cause of downtime. Response time can suggest impending downtime.

For example, I have a site that was going down every time the database backups ran. It was easy to correlate the outages against Pingdom's downtime logs to determine the cause.

I want to receive a text message when a site notification is sent (site up or site down). This could be through Twitter direct messages or by sending SMS directly.

I'm currently notified when a site goes down. I also want to know when a site comes back up. In the "back up" message, it should indicate how long the site was down.

One of VGPC's servers was unexpectedly restarted last night. When the server came back up, it displayed the server maintenance page rather than the VGPC home page. This should be considered downtime.

It would be nice if I could specify a regex so that if a page appears to be up (based on the HTTP response code), the regex would match against the resulting content. Only if it also matched would the site be considered up
