Have you tried to use Lua::create_string method?
It can create a Lua string from any type that implements AsRef<[u8]>.

Yes that appears to work with my test code, thank you. If I have further trouble I'll reopen this issue.
Edit: Love2D loads my module and displays image data from it, so it works. Thank you again for the help. I'm sorry for my noob questions, I'm still learning Rust and I find the generated documentation confusing to navigate and find what I need.
