I'm an Engineering Director who enjoys building and working with teams around the world. Outside of work, I'm an avid hockey player and enjoy spending time in my garden. [charts/12factor] make registry secrets easier to manage

Currently, secrets need to be created with kubectl create secret --dry-run or through some other means. This is a relatively easy thing to automate and I've done it in a project or two. So why not port to the parent.

[charts/12factor] allow autoscaling on custom metrics

Right now, the 12factor chart allows HPA's to be scaled off their CPU and memory usage. Having support for custom metrics should make it easier for processes to be scaled based on other values such as queue length or query time.

[12factor] Support specifying `restartPolicy`

[12factor] Set main container name to the name of the chart

Currently, this is set to app which can make some default dashboards hard to use. If we set it to the overridden name (or fullname) of the chart, default dashboards become a whole lot more useful.

Under Reconciling Cost. I provide a table using the variable x without explaining what x represents. I should at least provide that before providing the table definition.

charts/redis - critical error when using username and password

Looks like the rendered envoy configuration contains a tab when using a username and password in redis. This causes a critical error in envoy (which is a little annoying IMO) that causes the process to crash.

Right now, deployments require a service. However, if no ports are provided for a service, then we should not create one.

[charts/12factor] Support annotations on the service

I might need to revisit how the services are defined in order to expose this properly, but for the time being, it would be nice if there was a way to add annotations to a service so that it may be exposed via a load balancer. For example, external-dns will use annotations to automatically register load balancer addresses in your associated cloud provider.

Right now, this can be achieved using pod anti affinity rules, but topology spread constraints is a lot easier to understand.

I was trying to use this today to deploy Jaeger since it mostly follows that application pattern. However, the current chart version does not allow additional volume mounts or volumes to be specified.
