I' uninstalled "COMPACT MENU 2" from Fx addons, then my menu bar disappeared ?
I' tried Fx safe mode disabled addons and menu worked worked ? then reboot normal, then menu disappears again ? so how to restore menu back ?

Can't customize icon image anymore

This extension used to let you customize the icon used for the Compact Menu button, but not anymore. The option is still there in the extension's options, but no matter what image file you select, it remains on the default blue globe image. This feature stopped working after upgrading from Firefox 5 to Firefox 6, so the problem must be with the new version. Not a huge deal, but I'd like to have my spiffy Firefox button back instead of this little blue thing.

Ability to select additional men u items to display besides just the 'Menu' icon

Hi, and thanks again for Compact Menu 2!

I'm an old TinyMenu user, but since it is apparently unmaintained, I found my way to Compact Menu 2.

One option that TinyMenu had was the ability to select additional menus that would then display alongside the 'Menu' word/icon.

So, in effect, you could go from:

'File - Edit - View - Go - Message - Events and Tasks - Tools - Help'

to just

'Menu - Edit'

I have multiple users who like to have the 'Edit menu available directly, but don't want/need the others.

Any chance of Compact Men u 2 adding the ability to do the same thing?

Again, thanks, if this isn't easily doable, I understand...

Bookmarking broken on FF13 and 13.0.1

Using CM2 4.3.1 on XP & 7 Ent, cannot bookmark a single tab (Bookmark All Tabs is working) either from the context menu or the main menu. Also using Tab Mix Plus, NoScript, Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar and about 8 other minor extensions. Have disabled TMP and NS without success until I checked a third computer without CM.

Bookmark bar bug

Menubar shows itself after adding a bookmark at first time only (after Firefox start) by clicking on "star" button in url box twice (for adding tags).
Have to uncheck Menu Bar again to close.
Next times menu bar does not show.

Happens with Firefox 4.0b7, Compact Menu 2 4.0

Compact Menu 2 stopped working on Firefox 3.7a4

I was using this cool add-on on Firefox 3.6.3 without issues... I just starting using the developer preview and in the beggining the compact menu was working but suddenly it just stopped. The compact menu icon stopped appearing and it isn't in the "customize" dialogue either.

I tried to uninstall, re-installing, deleting the addon folder, etc.

Still can't customize button (but in a different way)

I happily downloaded and compiled the latest 4.3.0a1 update to fix the problem with this add-on not registering changes to the menu button, but it looks like there's still a bug. Now, when you select a custom icon file, the button becomes blank instead of staying on the default blue globe image. You can still click it, but there's no icon in the space.

I managed to edit the extension to replace the default art, but that restricts you to the tiny default 16x16 space -- if you replace the blue.png file with anything larger, it gets cropped out at the corner. I'd like to use the larger 24x24 Firefox icon in the profile folder, but can't find a way to do that.

Use just the word 'Menu' as an icon, without having to create a custom one

Hello,

I'm a long time user of the TinyMenu Addon, and I really like the way the 'TinyMenu' addon uses just the word 'Menu' instead of an icon...

I recently decided I wanted to switch to Tabs in the Titlebar, but tinyMenu doesn't allow me to move the 'Menu' to the Navigation toolbar, so I started looking for alternatives, and found Compact Menu.

I really like it, but, I much prefer just the word 'Menu' instead of the icon.

I know I could create an icon myself, but I want to change from TinyMenu to Compact Menu on about 6o workstations, and I really don't want to have to maintain a custom icon for everyone... so...

Any chance for a simple option to choose either the current icon, the word 'Menu', or use a custom icon?

Thx for your consideration...

Charles

Honour ui.key.menuAccessKeyFocuses setting

The ui.key.menuAccessKeyFocuses tells firefox whether to focus the menu when the menu access key alone is pressed.

On Windows this is the Alt key, and currently Compact menu 2 disregards this Firefox setting. This creates a conflict for users who also use the Win-X-Move program (or something similar). Note that Alt-F, Alt-T, etc. keys are still working when ui.key.menuAccessKeyFocuses is set to false.

Extension can't get menu access key thus keyboard shortcut to make menu appears fails

When extension is installed in recent releases on Thunderbird, this error appears repeatedly in error console:

ReferenceError: nsPreferences is not defined[Learn More] compactMenu.js:643:7
	CM_isMenuAccessKey chrome://compact/content/compactMenu.js:643:7
	CM_onkeydown chrome://compact/content/compactMenu.js:1258:18
	CM_handleEvent chrome://compact/content/compactMenu.js:1195:16

I expect this is why you can no longer access the menu with a keyboard shortcut. Is there a quick fix to this line of code that would restore that functionality?

var accessKey = nsPreferences.getIntPref('ui.key.menuAccessKey');

Firefox v4.0 default Button show/hide Option?

Yay~ you fixed the previous Bug. Thanks~ =D

== EDIT ==
I just noticed the Update wasn't even published yet, so I'm closing this again XD

I clicked update all Addons and noticed about now, it's not updated yet, so my Idea of the Default Button to be either replaced or to be kept in Place optional is invalid, I guess XD

Well anyways, keep up the good Work!

icon view

I thought that in the past, I was able to substitute an icon for the word 'Menu'. When I open the options and point to an ico file, nothing changes. If this a size requirement for the ico images? No matter what ico file I point it to, I still get no change.

It's not an earth shattering issue, but if you're like me, when you an a feature to an app, it's better when they work.

Thanks for the app, it's a must for my Ffox install.

[Firefox v4.0.1] Bookmarkbar show/hide

When switching between hiding/showing the Bookmarks Bar [which I'm used to], it will cause the Window Title Bar to appear. Further more, the new 'Menu Button' of Firefox disappears, and only a Firefox Restart will bring it back and hide the Window Title Bar again.

I really like Compact Menu and I'd like to use it in the Future, as well.
I registered just for posting this Issue, and I'd love to see it getting fixed.
I'll sadly disable Compact Menu for now, but I'll keep it installed and will check for Updates regularly.

Thanks!

Cannot hide Firefox 4 menu bar on Linux

Compact Menu 2, version 3.2.0a2 cannot hide the Firefox 4.0a4 menu bar on Linux.

"Menu Bar" appears in the toolbar context menu, but choosing it has no effect and the checkbox remains unchanged.

Feature Request: Add support for SVG

On my Linux box, I often use icon themes consisting of SVG vector graphics. Apparently, I can't use them as icon for the compact menu; instead, it will show the globe. Could you please add support for this?
This project is great, go on!

Doesn't work in Firefox 4 beta

They must have changed something in the menus, because all menu customization addons stopped working.
I tested with version:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:2.0b1) Gecko/20100630 Firefox/4.0b1

Compact Menu breaks if used with XUL addresses

I first found out about bug when using AddressBookTab for Thunderbird: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/67147 but it affects Firefox also.
Basically the component responsible for managing the menu bar stops working if the user or an addon tries to access XUL addresses that are usually shown in other windows. For example that add-on for Thunderbird loads the XUL for the addressbook inside another tab of Thunderbird. The exact address is chrome://messenger/content/addressbook/addressbook.xul
The AddressBookTab add-on is not the source of the problem since the problems arises even if you access that adress without ever installing said add-on. You can also test the problem inside Firefox by accessing an address like chrome://browser/content/browser.xul or in Thunderbird with chrome://messenger/content/messenger.xul or the addressbook XUL above.

How does the problem manifest. In Thunderbird, Compact Menu loads the menu for every Thunderbird window, so if someone were to access a window like the addressbook or the compose window by using a XUL address they would also be loading the Compact Menu of that particular window. As a result they would have the Compact Menu for the main window and The Compact Menu for the address book (in this example). As soon as the Compact Menu inside the tab loads the Compact Menu in the main window doesn't work anymore (it just shows an empty menu).

Same issue occurs if you try and access chrome://browser/content/browser.xul inside of Firefox. The Compact Menu placed inside the father XUL frame doesn't work but the one inside the child frame works. If i reiterate the process only the youngest XUL frame will have a working Compact Menu entry and all of it's predecessors wil have empty menus. This issue does not happen to Compact Bookmark Menu since my guess is that one isn't a XUL hack.
