mixedreality.dmx.gatekeeper's Issues

Hard-coding a specific authentication method into this solution

Authentication is one of those difficult topics for .NET Developers because we are generalists instead of cryptography/security experts, so we depend on "recipes" to secure our projects, as opposed to rolling our own security routines.

In the case above, doesn't this presuppose that all client-side consumers will have ActiveDirectory accounts? Or that the deployed "server" itself will be using Active Directory?

So my question is this: How can we come up with a design where we can swap in the "security recipe" we need for a given deployment scenario? This question pertains to all Asp.Net.Core projects, not just this one. (I'm just picking on this one. :) )

I think we can apply The Standard to this problem.

Perhaps we can create another abstraction layer in the AddAuthentication() method whereby the intended Authentication-Scheme is injected via dependency injection. We can create middleware routines to inject the correct authentication scheme for a given deployment scenario.
