Restricting Color Use

Do you think it would be possible to make the plugin only work for system groups (administrator and global mods) or have a way to select certain groups to be able to use it so that default or regular users can not use the color feature? This would be a great plugin to allow forum moderators to highlight specific stuff and for news posts, But for our needs it would be useful to restrict it. I'm sure you are busy and probably not interested in updating this plugin, But if you do, It would be greatly appreciated!
