proximitytoolextension's Issues

add to Google play store

After trialing many similar apps, your one is by far the best, least intrusive
app out there, but it would be great if it were in the play store for auto
updates and all that.

Always shows notification icon

This tool is great, a real pocket life saver. Only one slight annoyance is that
the icon is always displayed in the notifications panel, it doesn't matter if I
have the setting ticked or not. Any ideas?

HTC desire running HTC's 2.3.3 release.

Thanks,

Mike.

Please provide any additional information below.

Proximity sensor goes to sleep after few seconds, resuming only by power button

With LG Dual (2x) P990 smartphone Android 2.2.2, Baseband 1035.21_20110725,
Kernel 2.6.32.9, Build Number FRG83G, LGE version LGP990-V10d

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Settings are:
   - Service running=true
   - Event controlled=true or false
   - Headset controlled=true or false
   - Show icon in notification=true
   - Auto start service at boot=true

2. After an unidentified number of seconds there are no more ability to resume
from screen off, I need to use power button. As per point 2 it happens for all
the settings of the "Event controlled".

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- I expected I can always resume from screen off (locked or not, so "Event
controlled" true or false) instead it seems proximity sensor goes in a sleep
state so I must resume by power button.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- My product version is 2.3.3-1.4 with Android Froyo 2.2.2 (see at the head of
the text for more info).

Please provide any additional information below.
- I had the same problem with PocketSensor paid edition App (See the market for
more info)

I like your work, it is very useful and preserve power button.

Thank you

New option to disable proximity service in landscape mode

I have a mobile phone. When I use it in landscape mode, frequently I
accidentally cover the proximity sensor with my thumb. I don't want the
proximity service to trigger and switch the screen off in landscape mode.
Is there a way to add a new option "Landscape mode controlled" for that
(besides "No control", "Event controlled", "Handset controlled")?
It would be the same as "No control" but disabled in landscape mode.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Settings are:
   Service running = true
   No control = true
Show icon in notification = true
Auto start service at boot = true

2. Rotate mobile phone in landscape mode.

3. Cover proximity sensor with thumb.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- Screen should not switch off when the requested option is selected.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- product version 2.1
- Android version ICS 4.0.4

Please provide any additional information below.
I really like this app. It saves me from using the power button, and it does
not drain the battery. Right now I use the program with the "Event controlled"
setting to avoid accidental screen off in landscape mode. However in this case
I need to lock the device every time before I put it in my pocket.

Thank you for this great app!

When sensing is active, proximity causes the Alarm to Snooze

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set an Alarm.
2. Activate proximity sensing, either through Event controlled + Display off,
or Headset controlled + Connect a headset.
3. When the alarm sounds, move a hand over the proximity sensor.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The alarm snoozes, whereas it should wait for the user to Dismiss or Snooze
manually. Note: If the proximity sensor is covered, the alarm doesn't sound at
all, it simply snoozes.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Proximity Service 2.1, although it happened on the previous version as well.
Android 4.0.3 on HTC One XL.

Please provide any additional information below.

I tried going through the source code to fix it, but I can't find the code that
runs when the proximity sensor is activated (i.e. moving a hand over the
sensor). Am I right that proximityWakeLock is used to turn off the screen off?
But how is toggleProximityWakeLock linked to the proximity sensor?

Either I'm missing some critical android knowledge, my java is extremely rusty
or I'm too tired to figure out what's going on...probably a bit of all three.
