Name's Martim. I graduated in Architecture and urbanism from FAU USP, a period during which I acquired a strong sense of Photography. I even studied the subject during my year abroad at Parsons The New School for Design. My thesis work Meanders combined urbanism, georreferencing and drone footage. After learning a bit of programming, I revisited this project in an Observable notebook.

I went on to learn Python by demand of a job I got at Instituto Moreira Salles, where I still work dealing with cultural heritage metadata, image processing and online diffusion. I also had the chance to lead a team of two other people building an ETL data pipeline to feed imagineRio with IIIF assets and geospatial features.

My plan going forward is to better learn Javascript, more specifically React and NextJS, in order to create beautiful, interactive interfaces for exploring the data I work with. I may not be the most experienced programmer, but my multidisciplinary background allows me to communicate with a wide range of professionals and areas.

Finally, I moonlight as a 90's electronic music nerd. Some of my favourite places on the internet are Discogs, MixesDB and beets, which bring together my interests in data and music. I also enjoy translating materials to Portuguese so more people can use them, and teaching stuff I barely know.
