So I can add some useful tests cases, what size messages are you trying to transport?

Each message is 1.85 MB. In my case base64 encoded uncompressed image.

Have implemented async i/o around reading messages from the wire. Not yet updated the string extension to read an entire string but that's up next. Tested anecdotally with messages up to 200MB in size.

Read buffer is currently fixed at 128kb, but I may need to expose that as a configurable property somehow so it can be increased if most messages are going to be very large (which would improve the performance for large messages) or decreased if most messages are going to be small (hence saving some memory space by not having a fixed 128kb buffer hanging around).
