habzone's Introduction

Habitable Zone plugin for EDMC

This plugin helps explorers find high-value planets. It displays the "habitable-zone" (i.e. the range of distances in which you might find an Earth-Like World) when you scan the primary star in a system with a Detailed Surface Scanner.

Optionally, you can choose to display the ranges in which you might find other high-value planets - Metal-Rich, Water and/or Ammonia Worlds.

Optionally, you can choose to display the high-value planets known to Elite Dangerous Star Map.

Installation

  • On EDMC's Plugins settings tab press the “Open” button. This reveals the plugins folder where EDMC looks for plugins.
  • Download the latest release.
  • Open the .zip archive that you downloaded and move the HabZone folder contained inside into the plugins folder.

You will need to re-start EDMC for it to notice the new plugin.

habzone's Issues

Suggestion to Add a Github Topic

Github has a tags feature that I've found to be quite useful for finding repos related to Elite Dangerous. I noticed that this one might benefit from adding the elite-dangerous tag (maybe edmc also). Github calls them topics and says: To associate your repository with the elite-dangerous topic, visit your repo's landing page and select "manage topics." I'm very glad I found this fun project, and hope this would help others to do so as well.

[Suggestion] Terraformable body range

It's often really useful to know if specific HMC/WW is worth flying to.
"Earth-Like:" zone shown by default provides a good approximation, but it's a bit too narrow. So it's generally safe to assume that HMC 100-150ls (for usual class F star) below lower zone can be terraformable.

EDDiscovery values for Jackie Silver's Hab-Zone Calculator formula seem to be fairly accurate for predicting if planet is terraformable.

[Suggestion] Possible Data window showing in Game?

Hello!

First of all, thank you for your great EDMC!
I´m messing around with some plugins and stumbled accros this plugin!
It is a great help for me, on exploration.
One minor Flaw is for me, since i only own one Monitor i have to permanently switch between windows.
Is it possibil or planned to integrate an overlay showing up in the elite game window?
Something like the overlay showing after receiving landing clearence with the Plugin Landing Pad?

Greetings

Not Showing up

I unzipped the file and put it in plugins and after restarting several times nothing is happening.

Make a new release that includes the Python 3.x support

It seems you updated load.py to work with plugin_start3() and Python 3.x otherwise, but the latest release is still from 2017.

I'll help the Python 3.7 migration of EDMC itself if you put out a fresh release of this plugin. Thanks!
