libvips uses pango for text-based rendering, for instance to create watermark in images via vips_text().

It would be great if the Dockerfile installs libpango and configure it properly via pkg-config by default.

libvips 8.5.1 is released. It would be nice, if you could create a new tag for this.

I've download the docker image and now running it using command docker run marcbachmann/libvips but it closes.
How can I actually use it with an image?

I need v8.3.1 as a minimum for the latest update of a module that I'm using: http://sharp.dimens.io/en/stable/changelog/#v015-outfit

There's a newer version of libvips out and would appreciate it if you could update your repo and push an update to docker hub as well.

libvips from version 8.3+ supports GIF, SVG and PDF image inputs if it's properly linked against required third-party libraries during compilation.

Those libraries are:

• librsvg for SVG processing
• giflib for GIF processing
• libpoppler for PDF processing

It would be nice if the Docker image installs and compiles libvips accordingly in order to support those image formats.
