Calling this method for component with no template raises an exception, plus insert methods simply make no sense in that case.

Helper methods (i.e. insert...) should be moved to a mixin, and specifying base view class to add them to should be optional.

Implement automated testing system + continous integration.

Backbone views support tagName, className & id properties of the view's root element.
Components need to support these properties too.

Using 'initialize' method name instead of 'activate' should be considered for components: 'initialize' is a Backbone standard for any kind of activation logic.

Currently component observer does not respect the fact that some component is (or is not) located inside a particular view. This may lead to a situation when a component located in one view is handled by an observer of another one's.
To be fixed.

Add option to use custom selectors for observed components instead of component-specific classes.

Add an option to use existing template hashes (like Rails/Grunt JSTs).
This allows to omit declaring template methods in components, and omit declaring helpers at all.

I am calling this at the start of my app and it doesn't help:
