xbox-hd-plus's Issues

Need 1.6 install guide

Manual folder has a 1.0-1.5 install guide and a link to the same guide. There is no 1.6 guide.

Stereo only!!! Dolby Digital broken. Not working most of the time.

Hey guys this is driving me absolutely insane. The audio only comes out in stereo no matter what i do. I've tested every single thing for hours and i might get Dolby Digital 1 out of 10-15 tries. I changed wires and tested everything. My Receiver is a denon so it can handle simple dolby which i got before the mod with optical. Please help.

Issues and new BIOS MD5

Hi guys, just a few things here :)

Guide has not being updated in regards to the 1v8 point, this isn't on the HDMI PCB ...it's skipped on the installation, but it's on the guide.

Guide still says to install legacy patch, but there's the new XBOXHD+ kernel patch at the top of the patches page.

XBMC is showing a CPU temp of 1075 degrees, it doesn't do this unless the XBOXHD+ FW folder is installed and the FW is active. It was showing the system idling at ~49 degrees prior.

The XBOX HD+ app crashes upon exit, no matter where it's launched from (on both the BIOS's im about to mention)

This isn't really your issue but i feel it should be mentioned: The M8 Plus BIOS (MD5: dfc6288f6b67fd021e1970491c64c0a0) listed doesn't support LBA48, so large hard drives are out of the question. I found one with LBA48 V3 in the TruHexen2020 engineering discs BIOS folder, it's MD5 is < 94acfb5b4ddd81515386e733ea0020f3 >

Finally, the kernel patch seems to kill the ability to launch the rocky5 extras disc at launch (my preferred way of XBMC installation, as it's hassle free and super simple). I can still launch it once a dash is launched, but it will not launch at boot anymore for some reason.

Adding Beta XOR'ing keys to the kernel

Don't know if it's possible, but here goes.

Xbox Live Beta Test builds of Lamborghini and Re-Volt are now released.

The people who analyzed the executables figured out, that Microsoft used a previously unknown key to XOR the kernel and entrypoint addresses.
It has been documented here today:

https://xboxdevwiki.net/index.php?title=Xbe&curid=3706&diff=7038&oldid=6968

Now the question is, if it's possible to include this key in in the patches fornthe kernel, so it's able to decrypt the addresses on it's own, without modifying the game files.

no picture after installation

I have the following problem, after the installation a blue led flashes and no picture appears.
When I pull out the hdmi cable and plug it in again, a picture appears and a green LED lights up continuously, but the blue one continues to flash.
I am sure that I didn’t make any mistakes during the installation and have checked it several times.
What does the blinking of the blue led mean?
I also miss a biospatch for BIOS, which support f and g partitions.

I used latest patches for XBOXHD+ on a 1.4 XBOX witch ALADDIN chip and standard M8Plus BIOS (checksum fits).

In your tutorial you wrote, I have to solder to 1V8 point. But were is it, at revision 5b of the board???

Can't access HDD

I followed the instructions up until transfering over the app to the hhd. When I FTP, all I see is the root (/) with nothing in it. No C:, D:, etc.. It shows it's connected. Side note: I can FTP fine with UnleashX but not EvoX.

Bios choice

Hello,

i have an aladdin xt plus2 and i don’t know what bios i have to choose at step 3.

Thx

Red Grain Xbox 1.6

I have the latest version 2.1.10 and I experience what looks to be a red grain on certain surfaces within 720p mode that I do not experience when in 480p.

PAL Intro Problems

In some PAL games, the intros are extremely jerky. When I play the US version the stuttering is gone. But I would like to have the Pal games because of the German voice output. Is the jerking on the Openxenium, or on the HD+? Both newest firmware on it

Dead or Alive 3 USA widescreen incorrect display

DOA 3 USA version widescreen is displaying with cropped or shifted to the right. PAL version works correctly. USA is an older software revision so I think the way the actual game handles image output differs.

PXL_20210307_200816515 MP

Tested on:
Imaged is cropped on the right side
Xbox 1.4 (ntsc)
XboxHDMI firmware 1.2.1
Kernel Patch 1.3.1 (evox m8plus)
Xbox HDMI software 1.0.3 - all settings are default
Widescreen, 480p disabled, 720p and 1080i enabled
LG tv aspect ratio set to auto/"determined by program"
Aspect ratio reported is 4:3 480p

Compared against:
Aspect ratio flag seems to be 4:3.
Xbox 1.0/1.1 stock (ntsc)
Official MS HD Pack
MS stock dashboard (latest)
Widescreen
480p enabled, 720p and 1080i enabled
Widescreen image displays correct when tv set to 16:9, squished when set to auto.

New Project Stellar and XBOX HD+ v2 install

Greetings, hoping to get some guidance. Please see attached photos. I can’t seem to fix this issue and I’m not sure if it’s software related or just bad luck. XBOX 1.0

Add 480i output modes for classic CRTs and light guns

Please add a digitisation only option that allows for 480i output, for people wanting to occasionally connect classic, 15khz only CRTs via a digital to analogue converter (DAC) such as the HD Fury 2.

The Xbox HD+ mod removes all analogue video output options, that means people wishing to occasionally use their consoles on older CRT televisions cannot do so, as disabling 480p in Xbox dashboard no longer works, and output resolution is always at least 480p.

This means that effectively this functionality is removed from the Xbox console after adding the HD+ mod, even if you are in possession of a digital to analogue converter.

Please add support for 480i so that no functionality is lost when upgrading to the HD+ or produce a kit that allows for analogue video output to be retained along side HDMI.

PAL mode does not work, system locked to NTSC

I am happy with the new firmware version 2.1.10, which has solved many problems.
But I must point out that it is not possible to switch from NTSC mode to PAL mode (and with some games "Prince of Persia: Warrior Within" the localization does not work correctly), even if you do the switch several times with Enigmah and verify that the EEPROM is actually set in PAL mode.
I was able to set the PAL mode only by deleting the "kp.bin" file, but the video output is squeezed sideways, while if the monitor is set to "fit image", the image is shifted and enlarged.

Console 5 Capacitor fitment issue for V1.0 revision

I've recapped the mother board and power supply of a v1.0 motherboard. The capacitor located at C5A3 is a 10v 680uF capacitor. It interferes with the HD+ motherboard. I had to shave the HD+ board down carefully with a file and bend the capacitor legs to fit. I'd suggest checking fitment of the capacitor and possibly leave the legs a little bit longer to clear the board or find a different capacitor to replace it. I'll email the person at console5 and inform him too.

To Patch or not to Patch TSOP

I'm puzzled by 2 partially conflicting statements

The Webpage States:
"A modchip is not required, but heavily recommended as some of the optional features."

The Installation Manual States:
"Apply the kernel patches and verify it's activated by running the XboxHDMI application on the Xbox before teardown, as this will fix certain kernel bugs in some games!"

Can I install XboxHDMI without any kernel modifications or is there a chance I will be stuck without a picture and no chance to Flash the TSOP after installing XboxHDMI.

Original XBOX HDMI board for 1.6 xbox

Hi I've finally installed this board, all went well, it boots and the xbox loading screen comes on with no audio or visual issues. But once it goes onto the XBMC page i here static??? So I resoldered the cables, just to check connecttions but no luck.

Link to bios patchs not working

Hi i'm installing the hd+ but i'm stuck at software part the link to bios patches is not working please check this and update so i can continue the install.

1.4 Xbox with kpatch 1.0.x m8plus bios displays ridiculous CPU temps in xbmc4xbox dashboard

Noticed this issue on both kpatch 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 bioses.
Right after starting up the dashboard, it will display CPU temperature in 1k+ degrees Celsius range. If you switch between skins (for example, project mayhem 3 to confluence lite), temperatures will display correctly, but if you re-start the dashboard again, they will be displayed wrongly again. When testing this with earlier patched bios, such as iND5003 1.4.3, they get displayed correctly from the beginning.

1.6 xbox with 1.3.2 patch shows 55hz refresh choppy video output

Setup:
Xbox 1.6, xboxhdmi, otherwise stock
Firmware 1.2.2
Kernel Patch 1.3.2 built from m8plus (M8_16_LBA48_IGR_Q-06.bin) | 0c7ff9e58c7ae9ee5225944ce01daae1
MS Dashboard options 480p off, 720p on, 1080i on, digital audio all enabled

When hooked up to my TCL 4k 43s515, the opening bios screen and in game (Panzer Dragoon Orta USA) stutters and shows 55hz refresh.
Running stock bios and "stock" evox8plus 1.6 video does not glitch. When hooked up to my ancient LG 1080p 55LV9500-UA, patched bios appears better but the motion of the graphics doesn't seem as smooth (ie not 60hz).

1.4 xboxhdmi, firmware 1.2.1, running evox8+ lba48 igr q 06 patch 1.3.2 on the TCL 4K shows 60hz and bios opening and in game seems to be running normally.

Freeze with 720p dashboards on v1.0/1.1 Motherboards

Dashboards running at a 720p resolution will lock up and freeze the Xbox (audio stops playing too) 5-10 seconds after initially loading the dashboard. Navigating to less visually complex menus or immediately loading a game can circumvent the issue. But navigating back to the main menu on Xbmc4gamers or letting the Screensaver load on EvolutionX will cause a freeze and lock. Multiple individuals have noted this issue. Removing the makemhz board from a v1.0/1.1 and installing it in a v1.4 motherboard resolves the issue, making it seem that it is specific to those motherboard revisions. Issue persisted with M8+ and IND5003 BIOS. Individuals also reported that the latest M8+ kernal patch does not resolve the issue.

Stereo Only Audio

I have a v1.0 mobo with an XboxHD+ freshly installed. I'm using the M8+ BIOS with the latest kernel patch and HD+ App installed. Whether I have the HD+ App set audio to "Compatibility" or "Auto", I cannot get 5.1 audio to work. I am only getting stereo audio in game and in dashboard.

If I use the same BIOS without the HD+ kernel patch, I can set the audio in the dashboard and it saves my settings and plays 5.1 audio in game.

1.6 xbox no kernel patch

I followed the guide exactly. When I checked for the kernel patch it was there. Now that I've done the hd+ mod I just get a blank screen unless I boot hexen from a disk. Now it says I don't have the kernel patch. I have no idea how to boot back into open xenium to reapply the patch.

Patch 1.6 Bios With Custom Options

Do we need to patch the "stock" evox bios or is it OK to patch one with some of the settings changed (no logo, different boot links, etc.)?

Kernel patch not compatible with large HDDs

The patch is only compatible with M8+, which by default doesn't support LBA48. This limits the HDD partitions to (I think) 137GB. Larger partitions do not show up.

There is an LBA48 patch for M8+ that is applied using EVtool 1.0.9, however applying that patch first and then the xbox-hdmi patch results in the xbox-hdmi app on the xbox to not recognise the patch as being applied. Applying the xbox-hdmi patch first causes EVtool to not recognise the .bin file as a supported kernel.

As many people have upgraded the harddrive of their xboxes, it's my opinion that this is a rather big problem. If faced with the choice of a bios that supports big HDDs or the xbox-hdmi, I think many will choose the former.

Cannot force 4:3 on widescreen-compatible games (XboxHD+)

The XboxHD+ app settings do not allow for games which support widescreen to be forced to run in the 4:3 aspect ratio.

For some games like Halo 2 there is a mismatch between the viewport and the stretched out HUD elements. Many titles also utilize anamorphic widescreen (or rather, they stretch out 720x480p, instead of actually utilizing 858x480p) leading to a less sharp image.

For that reason, could I please request that a forced 4:3 be added so that games can no longer engage their widescreen mode?
