magniffer

An extendable, XPath driven, static code analysis tool for Magento, built on the top of PHP-Parser library.

Installation

With Composer:

composer require --dev magento-ecg/magniffer

Basic Usage

$ php ./vendor/bin/mgf /path/to/files

Extending

It's easy to create a custom inspection by declaring a message, xpath and inspector in YAML file. For example:

message   : Empty Class
xpath     : //node:Stmt_Class[count(subNode:stmts/scalar:array/*) = 0]/subNode:name/scalar:string
inspector : php

String could not be parsed as XML

When I run:

php ./vendor/bin/mgf --show-source app/code/core/

I observe the following exception:

[Exception] 
String could not be parsed as XML

mgf [--patterns-dir [PATTERNS-DIR]] [--show-source] [--] <path>

Environment: Mac, PHP 5.6.16, Magento 1.9.2.2.

Question on usage

Newbie questions here:

  1. Can this be installed with out composer, by just copying the files?
  2. "$ php ./vendor/bin/mgf /path/to/files" - where do i input this command?

Fatal error on autoload require...

I'm getting the below error after installing and running the command from the readme.md file php ./vendor/bin/mgf ./PATH_TO_FILES (replaced my actual paths with ...):

Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required '/.../vendor/magento-ecg/magniffer/Ecg/Magniffer/bin/../vendor/autoload.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php') in /.../vendor/magento-ecg/magniffer/Ecg/Magniffer/bin/mgf on line 4

It appears that it's basing the __DIR__ off of the symlink source file instead of where the symlink lives (.../vendor/bin/mgf).
