capstone-project-javascript's Introduction

Juan Paulo PΓ©rez Tejada LadrΓ³n de Guevara. Full-Stack Web Developer, Writer and Translator

JavaScript | React | Bootstrap | HTML | CSS | VS Code | Git | Wordpress | Ruby | RoR | Capybara | Jest | Webpack

Hello, World! πŸ€“

I'm Juan Paulo, but you can call me just J.P.. I learned Full-Stack Web Development at Microverse (highly recommended). I'm currently working as a Consultant at Apex Systems. I'm also bootstrapping an EdTech Startup (check here).

🎯 My goal is to develop innovative learning materials for high school students
and shorten the achievement gap in Latin America.

My Background

I studied Linguistics at National School of Anthropology and History, and Sociology at National Autonomous University of Mexico. It could sound that I did a career shift into Web Development, but I didn't. My pregraduate research work was about the language policies in the education system of Mexico. I learned Web Development because I considerer it as a powerful tool to deliver better policies in the education system.

My Projects

Right now, my main project is the company that I founded: Daiuk.

I showcase my Full-Stack Web Development projects here.

I'm also a sporadical contributor of cultural magazines as Nexos; and a regular contributor of tech-related blogs such as Hackernoon.

I have drafted a novel and a book of short stories. I would like to have a long vacation to finish those books.

My hobbies

I love writing, and I host a Shut & Write Meet Up at Guadalajara. I'm not bad, I even won second place in a short stories contest! (if you read in Spanish, I hope you can enjoy it).

I like to read science fiction, realism, and pop science books. πŸ“š

For a long time, my favorite sport was chess. But as I spend a lot of time in a chair, I rarely play chess now. My current hobbies are riding the bicycle and running. However, I am always ready for a chess match. Challenge me! β™ŸοΈ 🦾

My favorite things

1 const person = new class Friend(smart, creative, funny); πŸ₯°
2 // I don't match with hateful people that doesn't respect diversity😠
3
4 const pet = new class Cat(cute, furry, needy); 😻
5 // However, I also love dogs 🐢
6
7 const brew = new class Coffee(bitter, strong, dark)β˜•
8 // But sometimes I prefer a cup of tea 🍡

Fun Fact

For a while, I was paid for doing memes in a local newspaper. πŸ˜…

Contact Info

You can reach me through Twitter or LinkedIn or here, in GitHub (I guess that you don't need a link for that πŸ˜ƒ)

✨ Have fun coding! ✨

capstone-project-javascript's Issues

[4pt] -Display Comments pop up with selected item's details - Student B

Create a comments popup only with the top section (displaying details of the selected item)

Screenshot 2021-06-27 at 22 10 45

When the popup loads, the webapp retrieves data from the selected API and shows details about the selected item.

Add event to button prepared by your teammate that will open your popup. You need to communicate with your team member to make sure that you do not block each other (most likely the easiest solution is to merge the list of items feature to the dev branch before you try to add that event).

[0.5pt] Find external API - group task

Find an API to base the development of the webapp around it. The API should allow you to

  • Get a list of items with a unique item id (or generate the unique id).
  • For a given item, get detailed information about it.
choose an APIs that doesn't need authentication. if you select an API that requires authentication, you should implement it on your own. Also, if you select an API that provides image resources your webapp will be more visual.

[3pt] - Add reservations counter - Student C

Even if the API gives you the number of reservations you will create a specific function to calculate it.

Make sure that the correct number is displayed on the Reservations pop up.

Peer to peer code review

Hello guys, you are doing a very good job with your capstone project πŸš€

Just a little suggestion I have for you.
You can add the favicon using WebPack template utility

Just need to add the property favicon under the template, for example: favicon: './src/img/favicon.ico',

new HtmlWebpackPlugin({
template: './src/index.html',
}),

Other than that everything looks really stunning πŸ₯‡

[4pt] - Display list of items on the Homepage - Student A

Create the main part of the homepage that keeps the layout from the wireframe:

Screenshot 2021-06-27 at 21 50 23

When the page loads, the webapp retrieves data from the selected API and shows the list of items on screen with the basic data (e.g. title + image).

Prepare also "Comments" and "Reservations" buttons. They should be doing nothing - just being displayed.

This task does not include displaying the number of likes for each item.

This task does not include the counter of the items.
