An EggBot is a machine for drawing on eggs. I built an EggBot mini which is similar but uses 3D printed parts and cheaper stepper motors. As I'm using an ESP8266 for controlling the steppers and the servos I couldn't use the orginal firmware. This repository contains the software for my EggBot, (planned) features are:

Make things work!
WiFi (it's an ESP8266 after all)
webinterface for starting to print -> no need for an USB connection
taking svgs directly -> no need for external software
slowly lowering the pen so we don't break the egg

Is this project still viable?

I'm finally getting around to building an eggbot and want to use the ESP8266. I know this is pretty old code but it's the only firmware that I can find that is written specifically for the '8266.

Is it still good code? Was it finished to a point where it works ok? Are there any updates that are not here?

(I'm getting a compile error on line 37 that says D10 is not defined. I presume that is because I'm using a Wemos D1 R2 Mini and you used some other variant. I changed it to D4 and it compiles fine. Which variant did you use?)
