mmwave_reading's Introduction

mmWave_reading

This is a Matlab program for data reading from TI mmWave Demo. Specifically, the TI mmWave is AWR1642, and the data is outputted by record function of mmWave Demo Visualizer.

The mmwave_read_complete.m is the main program, which would invoke header_reading.m, parseTLV.m and padding_read.m. Before you use the code to parse the dat file, you need to change the file name in mmwave_read_complete.m as the correct name of your outputted file, so as to ensure a successful running.

mmwave_reading's Issues

Number of frame

Hi,
I'm using this code to elaborate the data produced by the radar IWR1443.
I've got a question about the tag=4. There is a reason for which the numbers of frames that the radar produces is always equal to 1? When i set for example scatter information and range profile there are no problem, but when i set scatter information and range azimuth heatmap the variable "nf" stays always on 1.
I see that when the code goes to the second frame there is no match between the magicword and the magic word template and then the break statement is always true.
How can I fix it?
Best Regards

x,y trouble

Hi,
I'm tryng to use the x,y coordinates of IWR1443 to reconstruct a map of the enviroment. My question is:
which kind of processing are made between the radar reading and the coordinates seen on matlab?
And which is the referne of the system? i mean the radar is always in (0,0) position and the obstacole referes to it?
Thanks,
Best Regards

Port your project for IWR6843

Hello,

I have the IWR6843 and MMWAVEICBOOST and I want to do the same thing. However, it doesn't work. I would like to know if there is an easy way to adapt your program to my task or which side of the program to look at.

Thank you so much for your help!

Does the Code work with SDK 3.6

Hello,

I have the AWR1642BOOST and recorded data with Demo visualizer SDK 3.6. This Code doesn't work in this situation. Did you have already this problem?

mmWave SDK ver 2.xx error

Hi, I tried running your code with my dat files but I am getting an error as a result of memory issues. I am using Matlab R2018 and AWR1642 EVM, mmWave SDK ver 2.x. Is the Matlab code you wrote compatible with mmWave SDK version 2.xx? Can you also share the dat files you used to parse... here is a link to mine...

x,y coordinates

Hello,
I have the IWR1443 and i'm trying to use the code that you posted to get x,y,z coordinates.
I have just aquestion:

  • The x,y,z coordinates are post-processed after the acquisition from the device or the only thing that is done is to convert them from the Q format?
That's because I'm trying to create a SLAM algorithm from the data that read the device but I'm not sure that x,y,z that I have are right.
The SLAM algorithm requires the x,y,z coordinates without processing so it's possible to create a map.

Thank you so much for your help!
