L4D2 : video txt files

Hi,

When I try to play the game with Split Tool, it says " Could not find Video.txt files ! It should be on left4dead2/cfg "

How can I fixe it please? :/

Though since I read you was planning to move and it pissed me to register there just for a couple of weeks..

This is the rationale behind connecting two or more clients.
The only things still missing are:

  • avoiding detection from steam of multiple running executables
  • controls (no way using xpadder can be reputed usable)

It should be possible, with enough effort and without messing up with drm itself, to provide the information Steam used to authenticate [the first instance of] a game to the same executable multiple times.

Steamworks services would probably only work on the first one, but the situation shouldn't be much different from BL2.
More on the DRM here.

If games have mutexs, it shouldn't be hard to work around them.

Crashing upon searching

When I open the program for the first time, or after deleting the .json that has my found games, it asks me if I want it to search for games, when I say yes, it crashes, when I say no, there's nothing for me to do, I can't manually find games. I downloaded the exe that you have in releases.

Also, when I tried to play BL2, it glitched to all hell and then just froze.

My friends and I really appreciate what you have been working on. It really doesn't make much sense why the editors aren't putting the option of split screen into pc games. I would like to see if you could add support for this pc game, even if it is just 2 players to one screen. I would be more than happy to donate to your work in getting split screen to more games.

Borderlands 1 Split Screen Problem

Okay, when I try to do split screen with 1 keyboard and 1 controller, the controller and keyboard only work on the screen being focused on. Help?

TV+Monitor Resolution issue? (BorderlandsTPS)

when i test run
(Display 1: 1 Player Fullscreen, Display 2: Player 2 Fullscreen; using two controllers (ps3 via scptool))

it on my tlc 1080p tv and my compaq 900p monitor. Fullscreen works perfectly however for my mates samsung 1080p flat screen tv and my monitor:

It shows fullscreen on my monitor but on his tv its as if its 'borderless windowed at a lower resolution. Not filling his entire samsung smart tv.

Its quite strange that my 1080p tv fullscreen works flawlessly and mates doesnt...

I dont think the screen inch would make a difference but perhaps samsung? (If i run it soley byitself in fullscreen on friends samsung, it's fullscreen:

yet with splittool its as if something went awary during the 'loading' of the games entering a game per display. Making samsung game display small and funny

Its on extended mode: happens if the other is also set on as main display.

Black screen(s) when playing Borderlands 2

I've tried using Alpha 5 and 6 to play Borderlands 2, and get audio with no visuals. Is there some setting I need to change that I'm not aware of? The game runs fine without Nucleus.

Trojan also question about Borderlands 1 release

First off, thanks for everything you've done! I've used your Split play program for a while and love it. Keep up the good work.

Problem/question:
Mcafee detected a Trojan when I unzipped your master files. Accidently downloaded that instead of release. In addition, do you intend to release another alpha version with Borderlands 1 support before adding other games? If not, please do. Previous methods that people used to run multiple windows of Borderlands 1/split screen no longer work. Thanks

EDIT: As of 10/19/16 I've tried v2.0 alpha 6 and so far it seems to work with borderlands 1. Closing issue. (2 players with gamepads, player 2 has to click start first at the start menu or else player 1 gamepad controls both screens)

How to make xbox1 controller default to bottom screen in Borderlands 2 (2-Player)

Title says the problem. When playing with 2 players, using kb+m and 1 xbone controller, the xbox one controller always defaults to the top screen when i would rather the top be keyboard and mouse (me) and the bottom be xbone controller (my girlfriend).

I have tried switching saves and making player 1 on the bottom in the split screen options(in the split play application), every combination of switching who is top and bottom and selecting the keyboard player option.

I just don't know what to do so right now I am just playing on the bottom, which isn't even that big of a deal just a slight annoyance.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

And THANK YOU SO MUCH for this my girlfriend and I use it every day!

Borderlands tps doesn't work

I just copied and pasted part of my question (see bottom) because it is a new issue:

"borderlands tps doesnt work either. As soon as the second player tries to join from the lobby an error appears that says the game is not in the drive. I've just reverted to using the last version of Split Play on his previous site which does work with borderlands tps"

If the creator sees this please see my comment in the previous issue posted by TeeWin to see and answer the rest of my question.

Portal 2 Issue

In the Alpha3 build it does not recognize Portal 2 as a supported game. Cannot add it manually or find in auto search function. Works in older version of the project from before rename and .NET 4.5 conversion. When will it be supported again?

Borderlands Presequel resolution problem

Hey lucas, thanks for developing the Split Play tool and I'm glad you're working on it still. I have a few questions.

First, is nucleuscoop ready yet or is there a public build that works well enough?

Second, I'm using the Split Play 1.5.8 tool to try and get local splitscreen co-op working with Borderlands Presequel. So far, everything works fine, from controller recognition to loading up two instances of Borderlands PS simultaneously and putting em next to one another or on top of one another. The issue that I have encountered is that once both screens load up after a while and Split Play automatically places them (Player 1 top half, Player 2 bottom half), the resolution is buggy in that each Borderlands is too much zoomed in so all we see is the middle of the entire screen on each Borderlands. I haven't touched any resolution settings and I have a 1920x1080 resolution monitor.
Is this normal? Am I supposed to only play using literally two small 600x460 Borderlands screens with a ton of empty space or is the windowed feature that expands it to fit the top/bottom half thing just doing it incorrectly? (The same thing happens when I try left/right half).

If I say yes, it crashes. If I say no, the program is useless. Also, how the hell does this program work.

Borderlands 2 Save ID Player 1

The Save ID option for Player 1 does not do anything.
Likely due to line 374 in nucleuscoop/Master/Borderlands2PCCoop/MainForm.cs

Does nucleuscoop alpha 6 supports only x360 gamepads?

I was testing borderlands 1 today and here is my conclusion:
I use two dualshock2 controllers which work as regular usb controllers, thus requiring x360ce to work correctly. This wasnt problem in split tool but in nucleus custom xinput.dll causes problems it seems.
-From beginning. So i put x360ce ini and dlls in borderlands 1 folder just like i did with 2nd game. I run the tool. It sets up screens. But joypad input doesnt work at all. I clear the files cause i assume you cant use them with custom xinput.dll. Run again. If i cant move mouse over both screens it means only 1 is focused and if i press button on any joypad, that joypad will control both screens. So i restart tool. This time i can move mouse over both. But if i use joypad now same thing happens. So i have to click either window, and that window will become joypad 1. Now i use joypads one after another and i can control both windows separately. Wew. I start the game but half the time it seems to load same save file on both windows. I create lan server and start the game. And here is the problem. All buttons work correctly and are not inverted except axes (left stick x axis is inverted, right stick y axis is swaped with x). For example triangle is triangle like it should be, it doesnt swap triangle with X, which often happens when x360 joypad emulation fails like in some games. And since there is no config file to remap them this is an issue. So i tried manually editing \Data\8980\Instance0\Engine\Config\BaseInput.ini. I only edited instance0 (which i assume is player 1) just to test it. Run the game. And it works ! And it worked on both gamepads (even though i edited only instance0) but both windows were the same save file. Then my evil twin brother decided to change control presets in gamemenu to suit his needs. And poof! Gone! Instanly reverted to broken axes. So i close the game. I assumed that it just return to defaults so i just need to edit it again. But BaseInput.ini was already edited to what i changed it to. So i run the game and trick no longer works. :( So i tried fixing it for several hours and gave up. ( Reinstalling game, tools, editing different files,nothing works). I dont really understand how it works. I tried also running borderlands 2 with nucleus but it loads player1 save file on both windows. Is it possible to create config file for your custom xinput.dll so you are able to remap controls? I already tried editing it with toca edit x360ce but to no avail.

Resolution Problems with B1

I've been a long time user of your SplitTool and always found a way to make it work for B2 and TPS. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your work. Recently got a new rig and wanted to play B1 again since this release came out. With the new Alpha 5 and 6 release, I'm unable to get B1 to display a usable resolution. It will always default to 640 X 480. Here are some things I've tried and some info on my rig
Win10 machine with 1070 GTX and 4k tv. Resolution originally set to UHD
After installing Alpha 6 - had to install the 2015 visual C++ to load

  1. I did notice I had to click a button with controller 2 first in order to have both controllers working properly. The only thing I couldn't do with the controls was to Exit as Player 1. For some reason the exit screen does not pop up when you click it.

  2. Went into a brand new installation (no character created yet) single player to set resolution at 1080. Exit. Tried with Alpha 6 and resolution shoots back to 640. Set my monitor's resolution to 1080p and tried again. Same result. I tried a bunch of different resolutions (including 4k) but to no avail.
    Did the same with Alpha 5 and SplitTool 1.5.8. Same results or wouldn't load 2nd screen.

I'd like to know if there is a place in the instance0 and instance1 where I can manually set the resolution? I wasn't able to find it on my own. Or is there something else I'm missing or can try to help troubleshoot the issue?

Save ID and keyboard player

When a keyboard player is selected. The Save ID option is entirely ignored and the default save is used for all players. Changing the Save ID for player 1 (keyboard player) does not affect the other players (or do anything really). The default save ID is always used.
The game was Borderlands 2.

Native splitscreen for L4D and Portal 2

Portal 2 & l4d2 both have native splitscreen for 2 players. It would be great if that was used to make it more efficient

Issue with the last release

Hey, i wanted to test the lastest version of your project Nucleus coop, the "release 2.0 Alpha 6". When i want to start the game with 2 players an error message pop up which says it's impossible to start the program because of some "app" (don't know what it is) missing :

  • MSVCP140.dll

  • VCRUNTIME140.dll

  • again the same file missing VCRUNTIME140.dll

  • and then again MSVCP140.dll
    image

All these error messages end with saying that "i should try to reinstall these "app" to fix this problem"
(sorry for all the error message box in french but i tried to sum it up the best i can)

Gamepads' attribution to windows

Hello Lucas,

Glad to see that this project is still going.

Seeing as Christmas is approaching, the time for an extended-family-wide LAN party, and this calls for Nucleus Coop.

Problem is, the gamepads are still hard to associate to specific windows. With the Alpha 6, Borderlands 2 (Steam version, up to date), a kb+m and 3 XBOX 360 gamepads... Well, the program pretty much still behaves the way it did last year : that is to say, the keyboard always gets its own window but as far as gamepads go, there's always one that fucks up and controls nothing. At the very least, one gamepad will control 2 windows, sometimes all three.

Also, by the way, nice touch with the multi screen ability. That'll come in handy.

Borderlands 2 mouse changes screens

I will play with a friend on 2 screens. When I aim upwards, sometimes the mouse will move from the bottom of 2 horizontally split screens to the top screen and take over the aiming of the first screen, leaving the controller-using player 1 suddenly under the control of player 2's mouse and player 2 passively not doing anything.

Issue with different resolution monitors

When setting two players to monitors of different resolutions. The resolution of the primary monitor is used causing the secondary screen to have a cut off image.

L4D2 : cracked game

Hello,

I have L4D2 (not steam game but cracked game). My crack .exe is not supported by your tool so I have to choose the original L4D2.exe but since it is not the crack, when I launch the game, it says " Steam is needed " . How can I do ?:/

What to Download, What to Run?

You really need some kind of instructions in the Readme. Having no idea what to download, I just grabbed a zip of the whole project, and that's wrong. It turns out, I needed to go to Code -> Releases, download the latest version from there. Extract it and run NucleusCoop.exe.

BL1 - Save game player 2 not working

Hi there,

I've managed to get BL1 working with two Xbox360 controllers plugged in and so far everything has been working fine. However, when we wanted to play again today (for the second time), both instances of the game loaded the save file from player 1. I've restarted the program several times, but to no avail.
Where can I check whether the save game for player 2 even exists and/or how can I make sure that it writes to two different save files in the future?

Not working with taskbark on sides

Hi there,
I just noticed that if I have taskbar on the left side of the screen, Borderlands2 just keep resizing again and again.
I shut it down, put the sidebar on the bottom and everything works fine now..

I remember that a week or so ago Black Ops 2: Zombies was on the "to-do list", but is now no longer on there. Have you removed the attempt entirely? Is it finished? Will you ever work on it?

Borderlands PreSequel crashes while loading into a game

I can't even get the game to launch with 2 Alpha 3 but I was able to get it launched with 2 Alpha 2 once with four players (3 controllers and one on m+kb)

Now whenever I launch it, connect them all to one LAN game and begin to load, the main game loads but all the others crash. I get a large error report that I can't seem to copy to my clipboard but I have a crappy picture of it if it helps http://imgur.com/kfqTYAY

How do i open it?

with the old one i could just click it but with this there are several folders and exe's. Love the project! keep it up!

Button right dont work

fellow that does not dispose of the development. I click the right arrow and does not work, I came to keyboard player.

Error On Left For Dead 2

Whenever I try to select Left For Dead 2, I get a popup that says "Unable to cast object of type 'Games.Left4Dead2.Left4Dead2LevelSelection' to type 'Nucleus.Gaming.lUserInputForm'.

EDIT: None of the games seem to be working, including the borderlands games. I cannot get past defining save variables and who will use the keyboard.

L4D2 : DLL

Hi,

I launch the game with Split Tool but the screen isnt splitted and a message tells me " Failed to launch DLL "

Play Button?

So I'm coming to this project after using Split play and not keeping up with the project for awhile. Feeling pretty dumb with this one. I've downloaded 2.0 Alpha3 and after selecting the number of players and setting up the screen for Borderlands The Pre Sequel I dont see a play button at all. After setting everything up how do I launch and set the magic in motion?

Borderlands Resolution problem

Hi @ all,

Splitscreentool works fine.
If I start Borderlands PreSequal or 2 in Steam in single player it starts with resolution 1920 X 1080.
If I start it with the tool, both windows have a resolution of 640 X 480. The configuration file in documents/my games shows 1920 X 1080.
Do anyone have a idea what is wrong?

How to get logs, etc?

I'd love to test this out, but its not even opening. I'm fine with that, however I have no way of figuring out what the issue it since there's no console output.

Also, with the old version (Split Play PC), Borderlands Pre-Sequel isn't connecting the two characters anymore. It worked the first time, but it's mysteriously stopped. Any ideas on how I can that working again?
