Austin suggested that we are using Venus Fly Traps for the first run (VFT), they can grow up to 5 inches in diameter and we will have to provide insects for the cultivation of the plant.

This is a managable size for manufacturing multiple stations to water, light, and feed individual plants, and the plants will have a notable response when in use.

Thoughts?

We need to decide which platform we are going to use to run the bot.

@jhliberty has a couple tessel 2's on order. However they do not ship til August. We need to get started before then, so we can't wait this long. One option here would be to buy a tessel 1 and then upgrade to tessel 2 when we get them.

Another option is definitely Arduino. I know for a fact Arduino has ready-made modules for water pumps and climate sensors.

We should base our decision on:

• availability of modules for the actions we want (watering, temperature, light)
  • official modules
  • community made modules
• quality of documentation
• team's level of familiarity/prior experience with platform

@DeftxPunk which one would you recommend? I can just buy it off Amazon.

The bot should be able to get https://liveplant.herokuapp.com/current_action and then respond to whatever is in the action field. It should only respond if the unixTimestamp is newer than what the bot has in its memory.

Submersible or non? (more power with submersible)

DC power, most of the time you want up to 12 Volts but if there are special considerations for the motherboard we end up using we can go to a lower 5 Volt power.

Outer Diameter (OD) and Inner Diameter (ID) are also issues to consider, this pump has 5/16" and 7/16" for clear plastic pipe.

If anyone has any other pumps to suggest feel free to recommend. Thank you.
