librepcb-website's Issues

Improve, Improve, Improve! :)

The website is still very poor. We should put much more information on it...

  • List all "killer-features" of LibrePCB (with description and screenshots/videos).
  • List import/export file formats
  • Add FAQ
    • Why not contributing to KiCad?
    • Why should I use LibrePCB instead of KiCad?
  • Add contact information
  • Add a "sponsors" section where we can put all logos of our sponsors.
  • Add a Flattr donation button
  • Add a Patreon donation button
  • Start writing a blog.

www.librepcb.org link broken

As LibrePCB organization on GitHub has link to http://www.librepcb.org on it's header, I just test click on this link:

As result got 404 page with next message:

404 Site www.librepcb.org is not served on this interface

In same time http://ibrepcb.org working well.

Write blog post about library updates

Describe the progress of the official libraries during the last year or so.

From @dbrgn #29 (comment):

  • Added DFN package family
  • Added LQFP/TQFP package family
  • Added multiple density levels for SOIC package family
  • Added packages for SOD123/SOD323/SOD523
  • Added dual MOSFET components
  • Updated SMD chip resistors (now with two density levels)
  • ...and many other changes (including a few new vendor-specific libraries)

A lot of those new elements have been generated with the librepcb-parts-generator. Check it out if you're interested in adding new families of similar elements to the LibrePCB library!

Add more tools to comparison page

In particular HorizonEDA since it has many things in common with LibrePCB so it's not obvious for users what are the differences.

Request authorization to copy texts and pictures to Wikipedia

SUMMARY

I have updated this page of wikipedia : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_EDA_software

And today I receive this message :

The material was copied from another website, and thus was a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy. GNU alone is not a compatible license. Please don't add copyright material to Wikipedia.

SOLUTION

Can you please authorize me to copy the texts and pictures I need from LibrePCB website to update the above Wikipedia page and create another one for LibrePCB itself ?

If ok, I will link this page to show that you have given me this authorization.

Add a blog

I'd like to add a blog, but unfortunately I have no idea how this can be done with hugo ๐Ÿ˜ž

Rename repository to librepcb-website

We don't use GitHub Pages anymore (for a long time) to host our website. So there is no more need to name the repository LibrePCB.github.io. Therefore I suggest to rename it to librepcb-website for consistency with our other repositories names.

I just realized that the website is even still available at LibrePCB.github.io (without HTTPS) ๐Ÿ˜ญ We should really delete that website...

If there are no objections, I'll do that soon.

Roadmap

I think a rough roadmap (something like on the FOSDEM slides) would be great to have on the website.
